Outright Update

Stage 15 was won by Sepp Kuss from a breakaway with Valverde 25 seconds back in the runners up place and Wout Poels was third, 1:15 behind the winner. The GC men came in 4:51 in arrears although Guillaume Martin, who started the day second in the overall standings, lost a further 3 ½ minutes to his rivals.

As far the GC is concerned Pogacar remains in yellow with Uran +5:18, Vingegarrd is +5:32, Carapaz +5:33 and Ben O Conner +5:58.

Outright betting “without Pogacar” has Jonas Vingegaard as favourite at 13/20 with Uran and Carapaz at 33/10.

Mark Cavendish leads the Points Classification with 279 ahead of Matthews 207 and Philipsen 174 and in the outright betting Cav is 7/20 favourite to wear the green jersey in Paris

Wout Poels now leads the KoM competition with 74 points, Michael Woods has 66 and Quintana has 64 points along with Wout van Aert and the outright betting for polka dot has both Poels and Quintana trading at 5/2

Stage Profile

The stage is 169 km in length with four climbs the toughest of which is the second obstacle, the Col de la Core which starts just after the half way marker following the intermediate sprint. Around 6km from the finish we have a short (800m) but steep (8.4%) rise.

The Verdict

This looks a stage for the breakaway and the only question is what type of rider will get into it. If the break goes early it could have some of the classics specialists but if the race says together till the 1st climb we should get climbers going clear. The relatively flat run in to the finish will make it unlikely any of the GC teams will chase the break.

My 2 riders for the stage are Higuita and Konrad who have both shown good legs.

Don't forget the money back special promotion for a second place finish and also the option to bet in play.

Higuita win at 22/1

Konrad win at 33/1
