TdFPeloton1Stage 2 of Tour de France 2021 takes place on Sunday 27th June, another hilly route including a double climb of the Mûr-de-Bretagne

Outright Update

Julian Alaphilippe won the opening stage and takes the first yellow jersey of the tour. As far as the GC standings are concerned Michael Matthews is second at +12 seconds, Primoz Roglic +14 and a group of riders at +18 seconds which include Tadej Pogacar and Geraint Thomas.

There were two big crashes on the stage, the second of which brought down a huge number of riders but the top 3 in yellow jersey betting seemingly came through unscathed.

The outright betting for the General Classification currently has Primoz Roglic at 15/10 just ahead of compatriot and defending champion Tadej Pogacar at 16/10. Team Ineos' Geraint Thomas is third third favourite at 11/2.

Outright betting markets also available include the Points Classification, King of the Mountains, Best Young Rider and the Team Classification and you can view all the long term options here

Stage Profile

The stage is flat for the first 70km of the 183.5km route and then we hit the first of four Cat 4 climbs. Later in the stage the riders take on the Caat 3 Mûr-de-Bretagne (2km at 6.9%) for the first time which is around 15km from the finish and they same climb will take them to the finsh line.

The Verdict

On yesterday's evidence Julian Alaphilippe will take all the beating as if anything this final climb suits him even more than Stage 1.

The same tactics may will be deployed with Alaphilippe going early and it could be that Alaphilippe's main rivals for the stage win turn out to be GC favourites Roglic and Pogacar.

We will go with Alaphilippe as the headline pick and it might be worth including Pogacar at bigger odds as he won't want Roglic to take any more time overall.

Remember our promotion with the added insurance of money back in free bets should he finish second.

Bet: Stage win Julian Alaphilippe at 2/1

Next best Tadej Pogacar at 11/1
