Outright Update

Stage 2 on Sunday was won by Matthieu Van Der Poel who also took bonus seconds on route and at the finish line to land the yellow jersey. After 2 big crashes on the opening stage won by Julian Alaphilippe it was a trouble free stage and GC favourites Pogacar and Roglic were right up there but Geraint Thomas lost more ground.

Matthieu Van Der Poel leads the overall standings by 8 seconds from Alaphilippe with Pogacar at +13 and Roglic at +14.

The outright betting for the General Classification currently has a boat race look about it with defending champion Tadej Pogacar at 5/4 and Primoz Roglic at 1.37/1.

Outright betting markets also available include the Points Classification, King of the Mountains, Best Young Rider and the Team Classification and you can view all the long term options here.

Stage Profile

The first two stages of the tour were well tailor made for the one day classics riders with the ability to handle short but punchy climbs to the finish but this profile is much better suited to the fastest men in the race. There are just two Cat 4 climbs along the 190km route and some more rolling terrain before we drop down to the finish in Pontivy.

The Verdict

It doesn't look like a stage for a breakaway and a bunch sprint looks the most likely scenario. There may be a possibility of a longer range attack from some strong men springing off the front and looking to test the teams of the sprinters but we fancy it will come down to the stage favourites.

Having proved his well being contesting intermediate sprints Caleb Ewan looks like the right one with the added insurance of our money back promotion if he were to finish second.

Bet: Stage win Caleb Ewan at 14/10
