2nd Leg Match Result Dortmund 4/1 Draw 16/5 Manchester City 13/20

City were trading at around at 7/20 to take a first leg lead in Manchester last week and whilst they came out on top 2-1 they needed a very late Phil Foden goal to edge it. De Bruyne had given City an early lead but they couldn't add to it and Dortmund equalized through Reus inside the last 10 minutes before Foden's winner at the death.

Earlier Dortmund came through a high scoring Round of 16 clash with Sevilla with a 5-4 aggregate win. They won the first leg in Spain 3-2 and they were 2-0 up in the return before Sevilla fought back for a 2-2 draw. The in form Erling Haaland scored 4 of their 5 goals against the La Liga side. Dortmund's only defeat in this competition came at Lazio (3-1) on Matchday 1 of the group stage and in the outright betting to win the tournament Dortmund can be backed at around 60/1.

Dortmund were 3-2 winners at Stuttgart at the weekend and they are are currently fifth best in Bundesliga 1 all of 19 points behind league leaders Bayern Munich and 7 shy of Frankfurt who are fourth.

City had also came up against German opposition in the shape of Gladbach in the Round of 16 and they secured a comfortable passage through in winning both legs staged in Budapest by a 2-0 scoreline. City remain unbeaten in this competition this season having come through the group stage with 5 wins and 1 draw and aside from Reus's equalizer last week they have conceded just 1 other goal (in a 3-1 home win over Porto on Matchday 1). In the outright betting to win the Champions League City are currently favourites, trading at around 7/4.

As far as the Premier League is concerned City lost 2-1 at home to 10 man Leeds at the weekend but they are still 11 points clear of Manchester United at the top of the log. City are still in the FA Cup and have a League Cup final to look forward to as they hunt for 4 possible trophy's this season.

Verdict:

With Dortmund's individual talent with the likes of Haaland this could still be an awkward night for City but I believe they will be up to the task. City were well below par in the EPL at the weekend but they have serious daylight in that title race and with only a slender advantage here I expect them to be in top form.

City to score in both halves is my play.

Bets: Away team to score in both halaves? (yes) at 12/10

2nd Leg Match Result Liverpool 9/10 Draw 3/1 Real Madrid 27/10

Real won the first leg 3-1 last week with Vinicius scoring twice. Real were 2-0 up by half time before Salah scored a potentially vital away goal but Real found a third and were full value for the win.

Liverpool won both legs of their Round of 16 clash with Leipzig by a 2-0 scoreline with Salah and Mane on target in both matches which were staged in Budapest. Their only defeat in this competition this season came in the group stage at home to Atalanta when they fielded a much changed line up. In the outright betting to lift the trophy Liverpool are trading at around 14/1 and they are 17/5 to progress to the semi finals under any method.

Last weekend Liverpool were 2-1 winners at home to Aston Villa, snapping a run of 6 straight league defeats at Anfield. They are now sixth in the standings, 3 points shy of fourth placed West Ham and if they miss out in that regard then their only route into this competition next season will be to win it this time around.

This is a repeat of the 2018 final which Real won 3-1.

Real had sealed this quarter final spot with a 4-1 aggregate win over Atalanta. In the first leg they eventually made their numerical advantage count, scoring the only goal of the late on and Atalanta played with 10 men from the 17th minute onwards. Real then finished the job with a 3-1 win in the return.

Real were knocked out by Manchester City on away goals in last season's Champions League Round of 16 and in the outright betting to lift the trophy this season

they can be backed at around 5/1.

Real are still involved in the La Liga title race and a 2-1 win over Barcelona in El Clasico at the weekend saw them finish the round in second spot, now just 1 point behind Atletico.

Verdict:

Liverpool were very flat in the first leg and they have given themselves a mountain to climb. Their away goal does offer some hope and they are sure to throw everything at this second leg but they are probably going to need to keep a clean sheet and I'm not sure they will.

I fancy both sides finding the net in a game of 3 goals or more (90 minutes)

Bets: Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals (yes) at 8/10
