Bayern Munich 9/10 Draw 26/10 PSG 29/10

Bayern won both legs of the Round of 16 clash with Lazio, taking control of the tie with a 4-1 win away from home in the first leg making the return, which they won 2-1, something of a formilty. Bayern breezed through their group unbeaten with 5 wins and 1 draw (1-1 away to Atletico) so they remain unbeaten in the UCL although they will be without injured striker Lewandowski for this game and possibly for the remainder of the month.

Bayern also top the Bundesliga, now 7 points clear of Leipzig whom they beat 1-0 away from home at the weekend.

In the outright betting to win the Champions League Bayern are currently trading at around 7/2.

PSG also took command of their Round of 16 tie in the first leg with a 4-1 win at Barcelona and the return in Paris finished all square at 1-1. Mbappe scored 4 of the 5 PSG goals in that tie to set up what is a repeat of last season's final which Bayern won 1-0. PSG's Champions League form seems to be improving after they lost group stage matches at home to Manchester United and away at Leipzig on Matchday's 1 and 3.

In Ligue 1 PSG lost 1-0 at league leaders Lille and had Neymar sent off at the weekend and they are now 3 points off the pace with Monaco and Lyon also involved in a title race which is far more competitive than we usually see.

In the outright betting to win the tournament PSG can be backed at around 8/1.

The winners of this tie will take on either Manchester City or Dortmund in the semi finals.

Verdict:

With Lewandowski missing I'm a little nervous about backing Bayern although they were my original choice. The more I look at this game the more I struggle to make a call but a small interest on a home win by a single goal margin will hopefully give me a decent run for my money at what looks like reasonable odds.

Bets: Winning team / margin Bayern by 1 goal exactly at 31/10.

Porto 4/1 Draw 5/2 Chelsea 7/10

Note both legs of this tie arer to be played in Seville.

The big surprise in the Round of 16 saw Porto knock out Juventus on away goals. They won the first leg 2-1 on home turf and the return went into extra time after Juve were 2-1 up. A goal for each side in the extra 30 minutes saw Porto progress. Porto finished as runners up to Manchester City in their group with Olympiacos and Marseille some way back in third and fourth. The only group stage goals they conceded came in a 3-1 defeat to City in Manchester and they drew 0-0 in the return with the English side.

Porto are second in the Portuguese top flight but the gap to league leaders Sporting is 7 points and at the time of writing Sporting also had a game in hand. .

In the outright betting to lift the trophy this season Porto can be backed at around 33/1.

Chelsea's Round of 16 match up with Atletico looked likely to be tight but Chelsea won both legs, 1-0 in Madrid and then 2-0 in London. In the group stage Chelsea were unbeaten with 4 wins and 2 draws and the pick of their results came at this venue when they thrashed Sevilla 4-0.

Chelsea's Premier League form had been rock solid but they suffered a first defeat under Thomas Tuchel at the weekend when they were beaten 5-2 by West Brom after being reduced to 10 men when they were 2-0 up. At the time of writing Chelsea were fourth in the EPL but a number of clubs are on their heels.

In the outright betting to lift the trophy Chelsea are trading at around 5/1

Verdict:

Chelsea look to have landed the plum draw although Juve probably thought likewise in the Round of 16. The neutral venue for a 2 legged tie adds to the conundrum, as does Chelsea's defeat in the league at the weekend given it was their first under new management.

Chelsea had been keeping things really tight until the West Brom game and gut feel is the first leg might be low scoring with no more than 1 goal in the first half and likewise in the second.

Bets: Both halves under 1.5 goals ? (yes) at 21/20
