Wales 11/10 Draw 9/4 Iran 2.95/1

Wales

Wales are in their first finals for 64 years and they marked their return to the biggest stage with a 1-1 draw with the USA in their opening match. The first half was dominated by the USA and Wales were fortunate to be only 1-0 down at the break. Kieffer Moore came off the bench for the second half and Wales were a different proposition although they had to wait until the 82nd minute for the equalizer which came from the penalty spot from Gareth Bale.

Iran

Iran came up against group favourites England in their opening match and they crashed to a 6-2 defeat. They were on the back foot early and although it took England 35 minutes to open the scoring it was 3-0 by half time. England added a fourth before Iran showed plenty of spirit and goals were traded until deep into injury time. Taremi scored both of their goals, the second from the penalty spot.

The Verdict:

Wales were a different side in the second half of their clash with USA and will need to take the momentum into this game which they may well need to win but certainly can't afford to lose.

If there were any positives for Iran it's the way they finished their opening match but they were swamped in the first hour or so and they will be gone if they lose this game.

In the circumstances I like both side to score.

Bets: Both teams to score? Yes at 12/10

England 6/10 Draw 32/10 USA 46/10

England:

Saka scored twice for England in the 6-2 win over Iran and 5 different players contributed assists to get England off to a winning start. They may have taken their eye off the ball when the game was in the bag and Harry Kane picked up a knock so the team news will be worth monitoring in terms of his fitness.

England are now 7/1 shots to win the tournament

USA

Tim Weah put the USA ahead against Wales in the first half of what was an impressive display but they were unable to dominate after the break and paid the price with a late penalty. Despite boasting almost 60% of possession they only registered 1 shot on target which underestimates their first half dominance where their midfield were particularly impressive.

USA are 61/10 to top this group.

Verdict:

I thought USA ran out of steam against Wales but they were a good watch for more than 45 minutes and if they can get a result here they will still be in the mix.

That might be a bridge to far against an England side who shared out goals and assists to put some poor pre-tournament form behind them and I see England edging it by a single goal.

I think we will see Phil Foden get a run out and he might well pop up anytime.

Bets: Winning Margin, England by 1 goal exactly at 2.55/1

Anytime goalscorer Phil Foden at 24/10
