The winner of this tie will meet whoever comes out on top in Tuesday's semi final between Argentina and Croatia.

France

Defending champions France came through what proved to be their sternest test so far when they edged out England 2-1 in the quarter finals on Saturday.

Tchouaméni scored the opening goal on 17 minutes, England equalized from the penalty spot in the second half and Giroud scored the decisive goal on 78 minutes. There was further drama with England missing a second spot kick inside the final 10 minutes, Mbappe was relatively quiet whilst Griezmann provided both assists.

France eventually made pretty short work of Poland with a 3-1 win in the Round of 16. After a pretty even opening Giroud gave them the lead just before half time and 2 quality goals from Mbappe on 74 minutes and heading into injury time ended Poland's hopes before they scored a consolation from the penalty spot

France topped Group D with 6 points, ahead of Australia on goal difference with Tunisia third and Denmark fourth

Raibot, Giroud (twice) and Mbappe were the French scorers in the 4-1 win against Australia in their opening match. They saw off Denmark 2-1 next time out with Mbappe scoring both goals in the second half, either side of a Denmark equalizer.

France had already sealed a last 16 place regardless of what happened in their final group match against Tunisia. They made wholesale changes and Tunisia pulled off a surprise 1-0 win

In the outright betting to win the tournament France are trading at around 21/20 favourites although those odds will be revised after Tuesday's semi final.

Morocco

Morocco provided another huge upset when they were 1-0 winners of their quarter final match up with Portugal and they are the first African nation to reach the last 4 of the World Cup. Youssef En-Nesyri scored the only goal of the game in the first half and they rode their luck to hold on despite having Walid Cheddira red carded in injury time.

Morocco knocked Spain out in the Round of 16 on penalty kicks. The game finished without a goal and goalkeeper Yassine Bounou was the hero with 2 saves as Spain missed all 3 of their spot kicks.

Morocco were the surprise winners of Group F, finishing with 7 points, 2 clear of Croatia with Belgium the big casualties in third with 4 points and Canada never got in a blow.

Morocco held Croatia to a 0-0 draw first time out and then pulled off a huge upset with a 2-0 win over Belgium. A 73rd minute goal from Saïss and an injury time strike from Aboukhlal downed the Belgians.

In their final group match against Canada Hakim Ziyech pounced on a goalkeeping error to give them a fourth minute lead, Youssef En-Nesyri doubled the advantage on 23 minutes and although Canada pulled a goal back just before half time there was no further scoring and the 2-1 win saw Morocco finish top.

In the outright betting to win the tournament Morocco have been trading at around 19/2.

The Betting:

France are 11/20 to win in regulation time with the draw at 2.95/1 and Morocco can be backed at 62/10

A game of 3 goals or more (90 minutes) is priced at 13/10 and it's 1.43/1 for both teams to score.

Mbappe is 34/10 to score the first goal and 1.23/1 to score during regulation time.

To qualify for the semi final via any method France are 1 / 4 and Morocco are 3/1

The Verdict:

Morocco have been enjoying huge support in the stadiums and given they have beaten Belgium in the group stage and Spain and Portugl in the knockout rounds they will fer nobody. However many of their players ply their trade in France and they won't be as much of an unknown quantity this deep into the tournament so it remains a huge task.

France were a touch fortunate against England and Morocco have had favourite backers punch drunk but I'm with France and will nibble at them to score in both halves. The anytime goalscorer interest comes in the shape of Giroud.

Bets: Any time goalscorer Giroud at 1.75/1 with Betway

France to score in both hlaves? (yes) at 1.85 with Betway
