Last Chance: Entries close tonight 24/1 - There are so many betting events to look forward to in 2011 and to spice things up we have set up a competition which is easy to enter, free to play and carries a R1000 prize for the winner.
How it works
All entrants get R2000 virtual money with which to bet
This R2000 is placed on events that are to take place in 2011 and the event must conclude in 2011 e.g. the Super 15 or Rugby World Cup – you can’t bet on something like the 2011/2012 English Premier League (EPL)
You can bet on events that have started but will conclude in 2011 like the FA Cup and EPL
The event or bet must be priced up with a bookmaker licensed in South Africa.
All entries and final bets must be posted on the Goodforthegame Forum by the 20th of January after which entries will close (Update: We have extended the competition to the 24th of January which is when entries will close)
The price/odds you take at the time of posting must be on offer by a South African bookmaker at that time and is the price you will get (no adjustments should it drift) – this is particularly relevant for bets on events like the EPL which is ongoing.
Edit: These rules have been added to the competition after questions from entrants (19 Jan)
- No multiple bets
- Sports bets only, no horse racing or novelty bets
Bet Limits
Your minimum bet is R100 and your maximum R500 meaning you must place 4 bets minimum but can place up to 20 bets.
An example of what your entry could look like: (prices and bookmakers are for illustrative purposes only)
R2000/500 Boks to win World Cup at 4/1 with Betxchange
R2400/200 Wales to win the 6 Nations at 6/1 with Voltbet
R1500/500 Bulls to win the Super 15 at 3/1 with Mbet
R1200/100 Scotland to get 6 Nations Wooden Spoon at 12/1 with World of Sport
R4000/100 Els to win the Masters at 40/1 with World Sports Betting
R900/200 Arsenal to win the EPL at 3/1 with Victor Chandler (available on the 4th of January 2010)
R600/400 Federer not to win a Grand Slam tournament at 15/10 with Sportingbet
Prize
The person who has the biggest virtual balance at the end of 2011 will win the competition and will get R1000 in cash from Goodforthegame.
How to enter

Once registered you can surf the odds of local bookmakers by clicking on the banners alongside and above this article (you do not have to have an account with the bookmaker in question to post the price up for your entry but when it arrives you will probably wish you had).
Once you have your bets (they need not be done all at once but must be complete by the 20th January) you can click through to the competition thread in our Forum http://www.goodforthegame.co.za/component/option,com_agora/Itemid,96/id,972/task,topic/ and post them there.
We will track progress on the Forum with leaderboard updates as big events conclude.
