Last week I touched on the much used term “betting value” and as an example used the Tri Nations outright market where Australia were on offer at 13/2 when I felt their genuine odds were closer to 4/1.

 With the World Cup little more than a month away Springbok fans are understandably getting nervous.

 It has been well documented on Twitter that my punting form has taken a leave of absence for the last couple of weeks and sitting down to write my Citizen piece I was decidedly short of inspiration. Yes we have the Tri Nations starting this weekend and there is plenty of sport on the go but when your form goes cold then bets don’t exactly jump off the page at you.

There are certain areas where my wife Trish and I are very different. She does not enjoy rugby and aside from being kept up to date on my bottom line has no interest in betting.

 I probably shouldn’t be putting these words to print but one of the things I look forward to on a Thursday night is settling down on the couch to watch Desperate Housewives with Trish.

I had not planned to watch much rugby this past weekend as I was playing in the Emerald Poker Series and all going well would be staring at a couple of Aces in the hole rather than the hotel TV screen.

I am sure there are many husbands that are dreading handing the remote control to their better halves on Friday. It is of course the “Wedding of the Century” with Prince William and Kate Middleton finally tying the knot.
