It was another late night for me sitting up till 01h30 watching my 40/1 shot Brian Gay close out the St Jude Invitational. He won by 5 shots so it could be argued that I could have hit the sack earlier but I have seen amazing collapses before and simply had to be there to guide him home.

Heading into this weeks US Open my form (punting not playing) could hardly be better thanks to Brian Gay who won his 2nd US Tour event in 5 starts at odds of 40/1. Constantly being out driven by his opponents Gay used a pin point iron game and only took 100 putts to complete an emphatic victory.

Sitting in front of the TV there were times when I considered going to bed but I had this vision of waking up to find he had collapsed over the closing stretch and I decided to stay up and guide him home. I am sure there are other punters out there who like me believe that they can somehow have an influence on an event despite being 1000’s of km’s away and while she refuses to believe it I have actually proven this to my wife on numerous occasions. Just the previous night for example the coverage stopped with Gay leading by 3 shots playing the 18th. Switching on Channel 20 first thing Sunday morning he led by 1 shot a direct result in my opinion of me not being able to use my positive energy to guide his shots.

That being said I was not able to do much for Tim Clark 2 weeks back but this time at least I woke up Monday morning in a good mood after 3 hours sleep with my late night vigil well worth it.

Back to punting and my 55/1 tip John Senden finished like a runaway train to grab a tie for 4th with 2 others and deliver some each way returns meaning my nett profit on the golf was 51.83 units.

This extends an excellent run that began with Henrik Stenson in the Players and while there are no guarantees I am feeling confident about the US Open so be sure to catch my preview which will be posted Wednesday morning.

I lost 5 units on the ICC Twenty20 cricket when I backed England against South Africa with every intention of trading out for a small profit. Problem was England never got in the game and a 5 unit loss accrued.

I also went down 5 units in the rugby when Australia somehow failed to beat Italy by more than 27.5 points and that left me 41.83 units up on the week.

Remember that aside from my rugby previews posted on Goodforthegame you can get my suggested spread bets and the opinions of fellow punters in our Forum and we hope that you will share yours with us as well. The difference between winning and losing in this game is information so lets share it.
