India in Australia

India in Australia

This looks really tough to me, especially until we get some confirmed team news regarding the bowlers. A quick heads up on the form and the betting on the link below and if anyone has a firm view on this series then it would be most welcome - I'm really struggling to form an opinion.

Re: India in Australia

Many thanks to Brent for stepping up to the plate with a preview of the Boxing Day test at the MCG including a couple of top bat picks.

Re: India in Australia

Great previews Brent and Chris, really looking forward to the Boxing Day tests in Aus and SA. My Christmas tradition is to stay up late on xmas day to watch the first session of the Aus Boxing Day tests in Melbourne, done it for years, although I never tend to get past 10 overs or so before the xmas excess kicks in and i'm asleep on the couch!  tongue

Re: India in Australia

Nice previews guys and a quality cricinfo article too. And I can't help but agree - despite the Aussies looking like easy prey at the moment they should have too much for the Indians. Pattinson has given the Aussie attack some much needed spark and Siddle's bounce could make life difficult for the visitors. With Zaheer only recently back from injury I certainly think the Aussie bowling line-up has the edge. Bat in hand I feel Dravid and Tendulkar are best equiped to succeed in Aus, yet the fighting spirit of Laxman can never be disregarded.

Thus my series thoughts - Aus to win, Clark top Aus bat @ 3/1, Dravid top Ind bat @ 7/2, Aus top Bowler Pattinson @ 3/1 and Ind top bowler Ashwin @ 3/1.

I like Brent's thoughts on the first test. Will also have a nibble on Kohli.

Re: India in Australia

Another Aussie test match where one side then the other fails to press home an advantage, finely balanced, hope you man Cowan holds on to top bat Brent, still has runs in the bank.

Re: India in Australia

Shot Mackem Cowan holds on for top bat!

Big drama in this test - India wont allow DRS and Hussey and Cowan out caught when they never touched it. Then this morning Siddle bowls Dravid but umpire calls for a no ball review - sure enough he has over stepped and Dravid stays. Correct decision made but makes no sense to me that an umpire can review a no ball but is allowed to make an absolute howler of a decision which goes unchecked.

The DRS is a must in the modern game.

Match nicely poised although India in the box seat.

Re: India in Australia

excellent on Cowan Brent! beersmiley

Do you know why India won't let DRS be used? I'm also wondering why they're even allowed to be the decision maker on that, surely ICB should just make the call.

Re: India in Australia

From listening to the commentators I understand India had a bad experience a few years ago in a series against Sri Lanka where they only had success with something like 2 out 11 referrals and Sri Lanka had been spot on mostly.

Re: India in Australia

A look at the Sydney test starting tomorrow http://www.goodforthegame.co.za/cricket … eview.html

I reckon India will go well but am taking a brave call (foolish perhaps) and will put the draw up. I think there is a good chance it will shorten at some stage perhaps opening up a trading opportunity.

Also loaded up on some MOM bets and my main bet which is India +39.5 on the 1st innings handicap

Re: India in Australia

Don't know if its just me but the preview doesn't want to open completely...

I rate Laxman as top bat. Hoping for the new ball to do some damage before the gutsy middle order man plays a solid innings. Same goes for Aus where I will back Hussey (both @ 11/2). I must admit to further increasing my interest in Clarke as Aus series top bat. Have also doubled up on Pattinson as leading wicket taker in the first innings as well as the leading Aus bowler for the entire series and the same goes for the impressive Yadav.

Re: India in Australia

Good news for my Aussie series bet but disappointed in myself for chasing India in this one - on another note you know its not your day when your 11/2 top bat pick scores 150 and falls short by 179 runs  tongue

Will take a look at the 3rd test this evening

Re: India in Australia

Put up this preview of the 3rd test http://www.goodforthegame.co.za/cricket … eview.html

Struggled a bit to find an angle and after studying the exotics eventually decided the straight forward Australia win could be the call at 15/20

Thre in a couple of MOM bets one of which Starc is not guaranteed to play but has impressed me the little I have seen of him.

The usual quality on Cric Info

Chris Rogers played his one and only test match in this fixture back in 2008 - this piece gives you an idea of how quickly a chance can pass you by http://www.espncricinfo.com/magazine/co … 48878.html well worth a read

Re: India in Australia

You are in good shape with India 4 down at lunch on Day 1 Brent, Tendulkar gone cheaply and that missing ton not getting any nearer

Re: India in Australia

nice call Brent on Aus win, have to say Micky Arthur having an impact already as coach, calming influence seems to be doing wonders and I like how he's earmarked Dave Warner as a future captain, big boost for the lad who was incredible in the win earlier this week.

Sounds like Aus really want the whitewash here.

Re: India in Australia

Voltbet have market up on Sachin 100 - will he/won't he. I have this gut feel he could do it tomorrow, still quite a few runs to get but 15/8 with  Voltbet and Holly might have 2/1 up later.
