Currie Cup & Tri Nations Week 2 betting thread

Currie Cup & Tri Nations Week 2 betting thread

Updated outight betting on both the Currie Cup and Tri Nations will be posted shortly.

The All Blacks look set to start around 7.5 point favourites this coming weekend against a Bok side desperate to put the Eden Park nightmare behind them.

All eyes on the bookmakers, will anyone take the initiative and come out early with the week 2 handicaps?

Re: Currie Cup & Tri Nations Week 2 betting thread

I picked the wrong game to lump onto the Boks last week. Got burned!

Wouter if you're interested, I see Greatodds have the Boks at 3/1 to win the game and the handicap is +10.

Needless to say, I'm not getting involved. Might change my mind later in the week, but at this stage my confidence is way to low to make a call.

Re: Currie Cup & Tri Nations Week 2 betting thread

thanx Hanrick - "on the 1 side we can't possibly play any worse" - pdiddy.
but he didn't install any confidence in AGAIN selecting januarie etc. - so maybe the boks might just surprise him this weekend and get hsmmered by 40 ?
will also wait untill the weekend , atleast I'm pretty sure the odds will last , don't think there will be too much action this week.

Re: Currie Cup & Tri Nations Week 2 betting thread

RB I agree 100% with you that is a handicap that will not last - only problem is due to my spread betting I only have a phone in a/c with Betxchange and it is too late to get hold of them (no live sport tonight)so I will have to hope it is still there in the morning  sad

Re: Currie Cup & Tri Nations Week 2 betting thread

Just had a quick peep and surprise surprise, the betting on that game is suspended.

I no longer post my views as this has become common.  Posting yr fancies is detrimental to your punting pocket.  Ah the fruits of success.

Re: Currie Cup & Tri Nations Week 2 betting thread

You have a point there Cats (I phoned early this morning and they suspended while I was on the line) but I have a feeling that RB had his fill before posting?

Thats certainly my policy - take the price and then share the value

The -3 was certainly there all night so for guys with online accounts it could have certainly been snapped up and the fact that they suspended first thing this morning suggested it was.

Re: Currie Cup & Tri Nations Week 2 betting thread

With respect Brent, my understanding of RB is that he is not a big hitter.

No, I have been monitoring this for a while now, if GFTG proclaims value, that value disappears!  Suppose you cant blame the bookies but I'm not giving them any advantage by posting what I think, its hard enough as it is.

Re: Currie Cup & Tri Nations Week 2 betting thread

Thats your call of course, my point was just that assuming RB took what he wanted then he is not harming himself by posting it here.

He is perhaps helping a few other guys to get the value and when the price changes as in this case it was always going to (WSB went 10.5) he is losing nothing because he already has the stock.

Take the price, make the post not the other way around

Re: Currie Cup & Tri Nations Week 2 betting thread

I got my bets down before posting.

Interesting points raised, I think the Bookies do visit the site (If I was a bookie, I would as I could see what my target market is thinking?) I think the Books will have a maximum exposure limit and presume BetX hit theirs last night hence the suspension. Maybe the guy responsible to checking the GFTG site went home early yesterday  laughsmiley

Either way. If you find value, place a bet then post on the forum  beersmiley

And go you Puma's, you good things!

WSB has the Leopards @ +10,5 .Not bad for a side which finished above Pumas in the Vodacom Cup!Fancy the Bulls at 9/10 on BetX though.

Re: Currie Cup & Tri Nations Week 2 betting thread

I agree on placing your bet when you spot "value" and then posting it.

RB -3 Pumas is a great bet and I wish I can have some of that.

Only one bet for me this weekend. Sharks +3.5 at WSB at 9/10. I see the +3.5 is in to 6/10 with Mbet and Victor Chandler have them at +2.5.

Still considering having an outright bet on the Sharks. Will decide on that tomorrow.

Re: Currie Cup & Tri Nations Week 2 betting thread

I have looked at the spreads and I believe the Griqas at +10 is real value. It seems the Cheetahs are slow starters and the Griquas are a decent team. That sp looks to big a number.

I won't be surprized if the bookies take a look here, I know I do and I'm a very strong believer in following your own head.
I think Betx made a mistake with that Pumas spread and good luck to those that got onto it.

I went with a multiple.  Griquas on the handicap, Bulls to win and the Springbokke on the handicap.

Friday night Currie Cup Preview - Cheetahs v Griquas http://www.goodforthegame.co.za/rugby/c … iquas.html

I am actually leaning towards the Cheetahs having been with Griquas early doors.

Brent, do you really think the AB will make the spread? I don't think we can win, although I hope I'm wrong, but I think its going to be close.

Re: Currie Cup & Tri Nations Week 2 betting thread

Hi guys some stats from last weeks game.  Metres gained The Blacks = 1229 The Boks = 507.  Boks missed a shocking 30 tackles.  I didn't punt last week and again uncertain this week.  I think back to last year when the boks won the 1st test v the All Blacks all said the All Blacks would bounce back.  However the Boks beat them 31 - 19 in the second test.  I agree with Brent and Logan, All Blacks to win but not by much.  2.50 for and All Black win by between 1 - 12 points for me I think

Re: Currie Cup & Tri Nations Week 2 betting thread

Logan if forced to have a punt on the cap I would go for the AB's on the handicap but as when I wrote the preview I am finding the cap very tough to call.

That 15/10 highlighted by Saffer was a bet I had not thought of yet and may be the way to play this one.

Re: Currie Cup & Tri Nations Week 2 betting thread

Saffer, I play that bet quite often, especially in International rugby between two decent sides. I heard they are expecting some bad weather in Wellington tommorow, so that bet might be the way to go.

I took a multiple : MLB Braves O/r; MLB LA Angels O/t; AB to win 1-12; WP O/r, Pumas O/r at 10.9/1. The MLB games are in, so just the rugby to come.

Re: Currie Cup & Tri Nations Week 2 betting thread

currie cup 1st division ep vs border bulldogs :
hi guys , have never placed a bet on the 1st division before , saw betx have EP @ -4.
read an article that said the bulldogs have only beaten EP once in their last 10 meetings. of what i've heard it seems that the things are looking a bit brighter in the kings [EP] rugby and must say they were no walk over when the bulls played them 2 weeks ago. i think E.P kings with de wet barry running the show are a descent bet at -4 betx.
ps. kick off 3pm and televised

Re: Currie Cup & Tri Nations Week 2 betting thread

I see the CC First Division also kicks off at 15:00. Border VS EP in East London.
I see Border is up at +4. EP have only lost one of the last 10 matches with Border. The average points difference is 8,2 for EP.
EP are very keen to join the CC premier again and have bought quite a few players to try and do that, Tiger Mangweni just one that springs to mind.

EP beat Border by 37-28 in East London last year and I believe EP is worth a small punt of 3 units on the sp @ -4 at Betx.

Good stuff lads, missed the thread but well done.

Not getting involved in the spreads for 1st half of Cheetahs game - still toasting the TDF stage!

Re: Currie Cup & Tri Nations Week 2 betting thread

I have seriously never see such a run of loose head props scoring - a hatrick I mean come on  sad  and last week there were 3 loose head tries as well - testing time for shirt buyers but at least loss was bearable.

And as for Griquas snatching the handicap, think I will stick with Le Tour this weekend....

The worst performance by a ref I have seen in 5 years. Shocking!! The Boks can't win against such biased officials.

That was so frustrating.  Already wrote a long comment at Rugby365 about it.

Damnit sometimes I wish one could so the ref for loss of income.

Oh well.

I am high on Pumas shirts at 46.5 with WOS

Will also buy WP shirts at around 32 although I believe conditions could be soft underfoot due to rain in week.

Re: Currie Cup & Tri Nations Week 2 betting thread

LOL Logan , were  away for the weekend. I was very very impressed by E.P in the firts half , some of the best attacking rugby I have seen all year , but just as impressive as they were in the 1st , they were shocking on defense in the 2nd.
in anycase I think there's some money to be made on the 1st division [ like the the varsity cup ] , there's not too much knowledge out there , and a lot of guessing going on  , thus opening the door for some value handicaps.
E.P , GRIFFONS and BOLAND the teams to watch out for.
