Tri Nations & Currie Cup - Week 3

Tri Nations & Currie Cup - Week 3

The Tri Nations could be over before it has begun and the Kiwi's are now 1/5 to lift the trophy. 2 home wins should perhaps have been expected but the bonus points have all but put the Aussies out of it.

On the Currie Cup front the Bulls can now be backed at over 2/1 while WP have shortened to 24/10 and the Sharks are into 3/1

Betting update to be posted shortly.

Looking ahead to the weekend some layers have the Wallabies slight favourites and others give the Boks the edge so a choice game looks on the cards.

Well done to the 2 guys in our Currie Cup competition at www.sportspicks.co.za who have now got 8 from 8 in the handicap calls. They split the 5k Global Trader Account that was on offer.

Re: Tri Nations & Currie Cup - Week 3

So far I have had 2 incorrect calls in the Sportspicks competition and both being me going against WP (I'm a fanatical WP supporter). WP have really surpsised me. I was expecting that we would struggle early on in the CC. Start believing son! Away to the Leopards this weekend and anything from 25 and under I will back WP to cover the cap.

Anyway, was a good weekend for me on the rugby betting. Had a bet on the Sharks on the handicap and also on them on the outright win. Made back all I lost on the Boks last week.

Looking forward to this weekend's caps!

Re: Tri Nations & Currie Cup - Week 3

Great weekend for me in the Rugga!
Loved the Pumas-3, they squeeked home winning by 5. Made some on WP shirts but it should of been loads more! Overall recovered last weekends losses so all smiles! My only crit of WP is that they should of gone for the 4 tries, lots of penalty decisions when they should have gone for touch. Bonus points are key in this comp so lets hope it doesnt come back to bite them!

Griquas on the + keeps marching on!!! 2/2 for the Hanicap kings of 2009  laughsmiley

Expecting the Boks-3 in the caps for the Tri Nations

Re: Tri Nations & Currie Cup - Week 3

CC odds out at Betx. Had a quick look and I think the bet of the weekend is WP at -22 against the Leopards.
I believe WP will go for the kill here after missing out on the bonus point against the Lions.
This spread won't last, so take it now!!

Tri Nations preview is up http://www.goodforthegame.co.za/rugby/t … frica.html

I have gone for the Aussies at 9/10 with WSB and will wait for conditions before deciding on spreads.

Agree Logan that -22 will be hoovered up.

-22 on WP is a great handicap!

Brent, I'm going against you, against history at Suncorp and against the Boks' current form. I'm going for a Bok win.

Hanrick I like the game that you know and I think you are smoking something.

As an aside, how is it possible in a round robin event like the Currie Cup that one team starts the campaign with three away fixtures?

Re: Tri Nations & Currie Cup - Week 3

BetX have suspended the WP-22 which is a fantastic bet, I got some on just in time smile

It could go either way this weekend with the Boks. Happy with the changes but feel they should have kept Louw in, not a fan of Kanko. In-running betting match for me.

Have taken a 2.5 unit multiple with BetX:
Pumas +28, WP -22 and Griquas win at 5.84/1

Re: Tri Nations & Currie Cup - Week 3

Haha! Cats, everything points to an Aussie win so chances are good that I'm wrong and will lose some money, but I'm going to have a bet on the Boks to win outright. Just waiting for some more odds. Best I've seen so far is 23/20 at Mbet.

Yeah it is strange that the cubs start with 3 away games. Do you reckon John Mitchell will turn your fortunes around this year, Cats?

Re: Tri Nations & Currie Cup - Week 3

Hi folks, new here.

I've been using sportsbet since the world cup soccer, and have had mixed success. Their odds aren't great, however i guess it's a good place to start out.

I'm a  lions fan, and i expect a loss for the lions. Sportsbet has the odds for the game as follows.

Win Griquas 0.65
Win Lions 1.3

Hey Universe

You need multiple accounts to make it in this game IMO.
BetX have got Griquas at 8/10 which are better odds than SportsBet.

Re: Tri Nations & Currie Cup - Week 3

still pondering on AUS or SA - I think whoever you choose ,the win by 1-12 [ @ 1.8 ] might be an option , I can see the game going down to the wire but a late try might srew up that bet.

Agree RB. Got have accounts with all the bookmakers so you can strike when you see the value.

Thanks Logan, I took the -23 on WP at GO.

Wouter, I agree that the 1-12 might be the way to go. Haven't placed a bet on the bame yet, but Boks 1-12 might be worth a go.

Re: Tri Nations & Currie Cup - Week 3

Hanrick in my very humble opinion the Lions need to sort out their house before any coach can get success there.  I said after the British Lions game in 2008 that the Gauteng Lions had no pride in the jersey.  Players like Bryan Habana,Jaque Fourie and Jaco Pretorius who are all home bred Lions, left the province in indecent haste. Why is this?  All of them felt they could further their careers elsewhere.  A sorry state of affairs. I hear the administration is a disaster and Kevin de Klerk has a huge task on his hands.  We lost 32-0 to WP last week and I understand we were lucky to get the 0 we were so kak.

I cant see Griquas losing at home to this sorry team, Mitchell or not.

Welcome UniVerse. And have to agree with everyone else about getting multiple accounts. But enjoy the ride of sports betting. It's the BEST!  wink

For those wanting to jump onto WP -22.5 go to BW. They still have Province -22.5.

Looking forward to the weekends games. Reckon Aus beat us (unfortunately). Like the Pumas +, WP -, Griquas and not sure about the Bulls vs Cheetahs.

Re: Tri Nations & Currie Cup - Week 3

Looks like I am going along with the majority this week. Friday night preview up - http://www.goodforthegame.co.za/rugby/c … views.html

Like Pumas +29.5 and although the early value is gone the -25.5 WP may still be worth a play.

My focus in this game will be on the spreads though as the Leopards consistently concede 40+ points a game.

Re: Tri Nations & Currie Cup - Week 3

Saturday previews are up http://www.goodforthegame.co.za/rugby/c … views.html

I think Griquas will be too strong for the Lions and the 15/20 represents a good bet while the Cheetahs are my strike of the weekend at +10.5 with WSB and I also like the 33/10 with WOS that they win the game.

Eyeing out the spreads in the Griquas game - watch this space  wink

Re: Tri Nations & Currie Cup - Week 3

Well put Cats. There's definitely something wrong at the Lions and it's sad that a union that was so strong in the 90's are in shambles. Just have to look at the Lions' u/19 and u/21 results and you'll see it's not just the senior side. There's something wrong with the whole union. Reminds me of the Kobus vd Merwe days at WP. Like you said, Griquas  should be too strong at home and I have taken some of the 15/20 at Victor Chandler.

Other bets this weekend:

On the Pumas +29.5 @ 9/10 at Mbet.
On WP -23 @ 8/10 at GO.
On Boks to win by under 12.5 points @ 18/10 at WSB.
And then I'm also with you on the Cheetahs, Brent. This is a cracking bet and also my best bet of the weekend! Have taken the Cheetahs +10.5 @ 9/10 at WSB.

Im surprised one can still get -25.5 for WP at around 9/10 this evening, make no mistake, Im not complaining! If the Lions managed to win by 30 against the Leopards. I can only imagine what the final score will be this evening!

Phew, how did you manage to get 66 Brent, current price at 88?

Looking at shirt supremacy, reckon the Leopards will not score more than 2 tries and the stripes will collect!!!

2 units buy shirt supremacy at 49, looking like great value. Total points at 56 looking pretty good as well at even money. Not to sure how the game will pan out for the first 20 minutes, might be slow?

Hey Brent, agree with the bets there, sound one. Also climbing in with the same. Kicking to posts will be ignored once the scoreline rises, thus producing more tries!! Hoping the Leopards will score only once and WP to score 7 or more tries!!

Re: Tri Nations & Currie Cup - Week 3

I was on WP -25.5 so like you BB I was done after that try but can only imagine the emotions of the -22 punters

That missed concersion appeared to get them out of jail (no idea how he missed that) only for the leopards to score from the kickoff

A crazy end and cannot believe I only scraped a profit on shirts - no WP tries in the last 15 min.

Re: Tri Nations & Currie Cup - Week 3

Crazy stuff - 2 mins to go and they are 29 points up and number 20 SHOULD score - how does he not? From the scrum, the ref is clueless and calls the ball out when it is firmlu under 8's feet ???
Thought I got outta jail when he missed the conversion sad
I am on the Boks today at 1.12/1 foer the outright. Beware the wounded Bok! We are gonna bully those shaggers!

Re: Tri Nations & Currie Cup - Week 3

Good call on the Pumas Brent - i'm mystified as to how the Sharks didn't smash them, didn't see game and didn't have a bet, but would have expected a massive home win but turns out we were a bit fortunate!!

Missed WP game - stiff on the cap lads. I like the away teams today, going a double with the Cheetahs +9 and Lions +3, 3 units @ just over 5/2. For me WP are a class apart this season and don't think the thumping the Lions got last week was as bad as it sounds, their defence was good enough for most parts, think they can push the home favourites Griquas today (or maybe i'm just deluded! cool1smiley )

Re: Tri Nations & Currie Cup - Week 3

Thanks BB

An indication of how disproportional my spread stakes are to fixed odds is that despite calling both Currie Cups and the Aus win today I went down on the day.

Lost alot in the Griquas game on shirts but let me tell you that Cheetahs try was a massive swing for me in all directions (spreads and fixed odds and all upwards) - wife was amazed at the mood change, from suicidal to ecstatic - when you get out of jail like I did there it actually feels as good as a massive win.

Great switch of direction from Johnson - he had a blinder.

Welcome to the forum Jack2Black and pleased you are in the profits.

Alot of good advice on this forum and generally the lads on here do well but as you will find out after betting for a while you do go through dry runs when you can not back a winner in a match race between Usain Bolt and your sister!

At those stages the best thing you can do is pull back a bit but when the going is good be sure to reap the rewards, having a punt is the best way to enjoy sport!
