AFCON 2012 Finals Thread

AFCON 2012 Finals Thread

We will be covering the AFCON Finals in plenty of detail, I will swerve the outrights where Ivory Coast are a solid fav around 15/10 to lift the trophy with Ghana second fav's around 4/1 and Senegal around 8/1. It's hard to see where the surprises will come from but from the last tourny, there were plenty in the early group matches.

Will get some match previews up early for the opening weekend and any pre-tournament thoughts appreciated.

Re: AFCON 2012 Finals Thread

After looking at Ivory Coast team sheet, I don't see any other team has a chance to beat them in this tournament on paper. I see Sportingbets offers them outright @ 1.75. Might have some value in it. Any opinion?

Re: AFCON 2012 Finals Thread

On squad strength it should be Iv Coast Appie but Im not too interested in the outright market.

Preview of the opening match on Saturday, Equatorial Guinea v Libya, correct score 1-0 EQ and Libya also to win 1-0 is my speculative play.

Chris, don't really know how you can hit the correct score market at such a consistent rate and it is also the start of the tourney! Great call there, hoping Ba will get you a goal tonight smile

Shot lads, cracking start to the AFCON, Zambia were just terrific though I wouldn't write Senegal off just yet as I reckon they can still get through that group, EG andf Libya didn't look anything special. Let's see how we go today

excellent going on Tuesday mackem  beersmiley

Just busy watching co-hosts EG taken on Senegal, pitch is absolutely waterlogged after heavy rain. As the commentator said - "he's just been tackled by the water"!

Cheers South, no joy yesterday though Im afraid, I was really sweet on both Zambia and Senegal. Not making excuses about the waterlogged pitch for losing bets but I cant honestly remember a game starting in such poor conditions. It was atrocious.

Senegal were third favs and they are already out, I thought they would go close.

Re: AFCON 2012 Finals Thread

Finally on Sunday, Libya v Senegal is a pretty horrible one. If the pitch is too churned up after Wednesday's pounding from the rain then "overs" could be worth a look.

Shot Charles, Morocco up against it v Gabon now, happy with my original picks of 1-1 and 1-2 (Morocco win) as correct score, supplemented with a both teams to score bet.

Should be a decent game in view of how the group stands now

Chris, I hope lightning can strike twice in one evening - followed you with 1-2 scoreline @ 10/1; both teams to score (Y) @ 1/1 and over 2.5 goals @ 13/10. I think the group is now nicely poised and both teams will be keen for a result. Lets' hold thumbs.

No double strike on the correct score in the Gabon game but will played Charles, wish Id followed you on overs in addition to BTS. Gabon really impressive second half. Guinea are the boys for me today

Shot Chris, it was a good (winning) game to close off the evening - flood of goals in the second half.  smile The Met takes precedence today, but I'll look to get involved in the Ghana/Mali game later in this evening.

Chris, went both teams to score (Y) in the Ghana/Mali match @ 13/10 - with a lot at stake in the group i.e. the possibility to top the group, I think both teams will be keen to do well - likely score 1-1.

Stiff with BTS in the Ghana game Charles, I survived with the half time draw in that game and Guinea came home with a record score so Friday and Saturday matches have gone really well. 1/4 final picture will start to take shape from today

Disappointing to miss out in both games last night, that Tunisia goalkeeper was an absolute time bomb. Hopefully can make up for it with the last group matches tonight and I'll work on the quarter finals which start on the weekend.

Re: AFCON 2012 Finals Thread

Nice one on Ghana v Guinea HT draw mackem, nailed on stroke of half-time!

The 1/4 finals should see the class come through - from what I've seen of Zambia they're a real threat in this tournament, and Ivory Coast should now be at their best following a couple games and should put away EG with a bit to spare. Will follow you and taking double @ 2.7/1.

On a sadder note - terrible scenes in Egyptian football with the loss of many lives there in rioting and fighting after a game last night.

Yes thats a shocker in Egypt there South, awful scenes.

Wrap up the 1.4 finals with these two on Sunday.....

Gabon v Mali, under 1.5 goals

Ghana v Tunisia, will speculate here, Draw/Ghana HT/FT 9/2 at WSB looks a good price

Shot for the coverage Chris.

Only 5 draws and one 0-0 in the tournament and there were certainly more goals than would have been expected upfront.
