Weekend rugby thread - 27th to 29th Jan

A slightly limited amount of action on the european rugby front this weekends as the 6 nation countries start preparing for the 6N that starts next week. There is however a full set of T14 fixtures, with France allowing the T14 clubs to select their internationals this weekend (a bit strange given 6N 1st round is so close).

Nonetheless, one game I really like is Toulon v Bayonne, preview on link below -

http://www.goodforthegame.co.za/europea … eview.html

Going Toulon -11 @ 10/11.

Going to have a look at the other games, did like Toulouse at Racing but heard a rumour Guy Noves is going to do the French coach Phillip St Andre a bit of a favour by resting a whole bunch of French internationals. Waiting for team news on all other games may be best way to go.

Going to throw the following 3 into a treble for weekend -

Racing -2.5. Toulouse resting many, got a big lead and can afford to a loss here. Racing good record at home against Toulouse.
Lyon -3.5. At home they really know how to fight, get a big noisy crowd in. Will be desperate for this win.
Perpignan +4.5. Showing signs of a revival, face a Brive team winless since October!

1.5 unit treble @ 11/2.

Re: Weekend rugby thread - 27th to 29th Jan

Would like to get involved in the French rugby but I never get to see it so reluctant. I also have difficulty finding the league table and website for the T14, I normally end up on the Eurosport site or some random old site.

Ospreys are at home to Dragons tonight in LV cup, -7 is the market, might take that on the guess that the Ospreys back ups will be stronger than Dragons back ups but that is all it is based on. Both teams are full of second stringers.

Other game Im interested in is the England Saxons vs Irish Wolfhounds, looking forward to prices coming out for that, have not seen anything yet.

Re: Weekend rugby thread - 27th to 29th Jan

A couple of Super Rugby warmups and I am kicking myself for not taking -21 Cheetahs at 5/6 away to the Kings at Sportingbet last night. The Kings have named a very weak side but no doubt shrewd punters latched ond the match has been taken down for now at any rate.

Stormers -6 against the Lions tonight - any thoughts?

Re: Weekend rugby thread - 27th to 29th Jan

Hey Brent,

I am also kicking myself for not putting more on!

I was lining up a big punt all day and caught it at -15, then -18 and then -20. I was going to put more on at -21 but had a few things to do and when I next checked it was down! sad

I also got on lions +8 before it was changed to +6! I think lions could win this game.

Would have been interesting to see what Hollywood would have had on the cap if they had these games on their site....pity they dont.

Barnard out injured for Agen, big blow for them, leading points scorer in T14. Like that Lyon -3.5 now for the treble.

Out to -23 now! Think its still a great bet still! Cheetahs just have 22 players on the team sheet and "kings" have got the max allowed for these warm up games, they will struggle to find any structure! Think it is going to be a long day at the office for them!

Re: Weekend rugby thread - 27th to 29th Jan

well done any Stormers backers. Man i'm looking forward to Super 15.

In meantime though - LV Cup in UK, some teams blooding some exciting youngsters mixed with some new signings. 1 game I like - Wasps v Exteter, going Wasps -2 @ 9/10 with Ladbrokes. Wasps do well with their young talent and feel they can cover that 2 point cap against a weaker looking Exeter side.

Like that Wasps one South, will join you. Wasps -2

I am also on Montpellier -4.5 and now bought Shirts at Half time @ 24. Montpellier were build up some steam and Stade have shown they can fade in second half away especially away from home. Come on Montpellier.

Re: Weekend rugby thread - 27th to 29th Jan

lads, i took a break, im back.

gonna try keep my posts to a minimum, but i wouldnt be bacing that wasps team. exeter pack is huge, wasps first string are useless, imagine what wil happen with their second string. I got on exeter and irish at very big prices, both now 6/5 in from heights of  5/2 and 11/4 respectively. also got them at ex +6 and irish +4...well in lower now.

i put on big doubles, but not big enough to move the market. alot of big hitters must have piled into both of them.

not telling yis what to do, just giving you some market history guys, top men that you are

Re: Weekend rugby thread - 27th to 29th Jan

Hey guys well done to stormers backers last night! They played really well and lions where somehow absolutely awful! They dominated periods of the game but on the scoreboard where outplayed!

Aplon had a cracking game! He looks in some great form and I make the 6-1 on offer for top stormers try scorer a bargain especially seeing that habanna is so toilet! I make Van Den Heever the only threat who came on and made an impact!

Hoping Cheetahs can put on some massive points today! smile

Re: Weekend rugby thread - 27th to 29th Jan

welcome back GM. Yes see there's been a lot of support for Exeter, already taken 10/11 Wasps for win so will probably have to ride that one out.

Fearless, what position will Aplon be playing this season, wing or fullback? Reason I ask is that I really like the top tryscorer markets, had some joy last season with Bassson top SA tryscorer and eyeing out those markets again, 6/1 Aplon sounds decent. On that subject - Basson top Bulls tryscorer @ 2/1 feels solid and am looking to back that - second full season with Bulls, can only get better than last season.

How did that shirts bet end up KT?

Just seen the Cheetahs result - in shock - luckily I missed the early price and never got too involved

Re: Weekend rugby thread - 27th to 29th Jan

Hey Brent

Pretty good thanks, up 24 units for the game, Montpellier were clinical in that game. Liking them to carry on the form, only concern is they lose TrinDuc, big loss for them.

Racing destroyed my afternoon, 32/1 acc missed by them.

I have taken some Lions to finish bottom of SA teams, just concerned with all the problems they migth start losing players if can't pay them.
