NZ Rugby Sevens Thread

NZ Rugby Sevens Thread

Its 7s time of the year again. Kicks off early hours of Friday morning.
I will do an extensive preview but want to highlight a bet which is REAL value !!!

Samoa are -24.5 vs Japan on Day 1. Last 3 head-to-heads read:
Aus 2011 - Samoa 40 Japan 7
Vegas 2011 - Samoa 31 Japan 7
Aus 2010 - Samoa 54 Japan 5

Japans results in Aus this season (Only event they have been part of)
Australia 33 Japan 0
SA 31 Japan 7
USA 21 Japan 0
Argentina 38 Japan 12
Kenya 14 Japan 19
Japan 19 PNG 31

Samoa's record against "Weaker teams" this IRB Series
Dubai - Samoa 55 UAE 12
Aus - Samoa 38 PNG 0

The Samoa -24.5 is a cracking bet! Its available at bet.co.za and Its my early value fancy!!!

Suggest Samoa -24.5 at 3x normal stakes

Re: NZ Rugby Sevens Thread

Ok boys!
BIG BET ALERT!
Fiji take on Argentina in their 1st match.
H2H history
Dub 2012 3rd Place - Fiji 26 Argies 21
Dub 2012 1st match - Fiji 40 Argies 7
Wel 2011 SF Plate - Fiji 28 Argies 0
Average score - Fiji 31 Argies 9

Now NZ is practically a home venue for Fiji whilst its a monster journey for the Argies. This is how both sides fair on their 1st game of NZ 7s:
2011 - Fiji 42 France 0 ; Argies 14 PNG 10
2010 - Fiji 47 Scots 12 ; Argies 7 Canada 26
2009 - Fiji 10 USA 15 ; Argies 17 Canada 17
2008 - Fiji 40 Wales 7 ; Argies 7 USA 17

Fiji have scored 40 points + on 3 of the 4 occasions while the Argies have scored 17 points max. The Argies have only won 1 match of the last 4 openers at NZ 7s while Fiji have won 3 of 4 at average winning score of 43-6!

Fiji are -14.5 at Hollywood and that deserves the MAX BET!!!

Re: NZ Rugby Sevens Thread

Another Fancy
Australia take on Kenya

I like the way the Aussies play against the smaller teams. The Aussies are a fast young side that do put the smaller unions away.
Their results against the smaller guys this season:
SA 2011/12 - Aus 31 Kenya 14
SA  2011/12 - Aus 33 Canada 10
Dubai  2011/12 - Aus 40 Canada 7
Dubai  2011/12 - Aus 24 Scotland 12
Aus  2011/12 - Aus 33 Japan 0
Aus  2011/12 -Aus 22 USA 7

Of those 6 pool matches, the Aussies have covered 5/6! The only one they missed out on was against Scotland with the handicap of 12.5 pts so they missed it by 1 point!

Its not a far trip for Australia to get to NZ while its quite a journey for Kenya. The Kenyans are boosted by the return of their two stars in Injera and Kayange but I feel the Aussies will have too much for them!

Australia -14.5 - 3 x normal stakes

Re: NZ Rugby Sevens Thread

Here is a brief preview of the rest of the 1st set of matches:
South Africa vs USA
- The Blitzbokke narrowly lost out in PE and will be looking for revenge in NZ. They have announced that Stephan Dippenaar makes his debut while the Yanks are without Matt Hawkins. SA beat USA 36-7 in Dubai in December and should be favoured to beat the handicap of -18.5
England vs Cook Islands
- The Cooks are the 2nd seed in their region and take the place of PNG in this tourney. The Cooks have famously beaten England previously and England scraped passed them 21-17 in Wellington last season. The early handicap at BetX was Cooks +34.5 which was a cracking punt. Current handicap is Cooks +30.5 and I would still back the Cooks as this is their cup final on Day 1
Wales v Tonga
Wales are without Harry Robinson, who has been promoted to the 6Nations side. Wales are a talented bunch and demolished Fiji 48-0 in PE last time out! The Welsh's ball retention is superb. Tonga can be a hard side to beat but I feel they will be saving themselves for the clash with Fiji on Day 1. The last time the sides met it finished 21-7 to Wales and the cap is set at Wales -14.5 which is spot on
France v Canada
Canada are without Sean White for this event and are slow starters to the 7s events. Their opening matches have seen a 40-7 drubbing from Australia in Dubai and a 33-0 pasting from the Blitzbokke in PE. France are the most improved side on the 7s circuit so I wouldnt pay too much attention to the head to heads, which Canada have won the last 4! France -9.5 was available at WSB and one must feel confident if your'e on that!
New Zealand v Scotland
The host nation and reigning Champs are definitely the team to beat. Their 12 man side has 227 tournament caps between them and Hosea Gear plays on the wing to help him get ready for the S15! A Quality player to call on!!! NZ smashed the Scots 45-0 in PE and I think the Scots will target the game against Samoa on Day 1. I dont think the Scots will be at their best and expect the Kiwi's to put them to the sword!

The matches start at 02:00am (SA Time) speechlesssmiley  speechlesssmiley  speechlesssmiley
Stay tuned to the Forum for sugggested punts on the rest of Day 1  wink

I have taken Samoa, Australia and Fiji, couldn't agree more.  NZ is around the corner from them all and it should be good.  Also put them into an acca for 5.5/1!!  This should be good!

Morning lads.
Recovered this morning! Crazy results!!!

I am BIG on SA to beat England. Loser plays Tonga tomorrow and I know these Pommie bastards will know that and not play their best side. Also think SA are playing superbly and have a great combo of pace, strength and experience.

SA 17/20 at Hollywood for 4 units!

Re: NZ Rugby Sevens Thread

Early Morning! And loving it with the Aus v Japs score!

I am on the following:
NZ -16.5 vs France ... a little worried about the weather but hope NZ sneak it. Last 2 games saw a 41-0 NZ win in SA and a 43-5 in Scotland last year.
I know France improved but the Kiwi's on different level!
England -8.5 vs Tonga - Just feel that Tonga had their moment in the spotlight yesterday and a harsh reality check awaits
Canada +14.5 vs Samoa - as per best bet. Canada won last match, covered last 3 at +14.5

We need a miracle for the Tonga + now!

Im going England -8.5 at Volties v Samoa. Looks the better bet as England were unlucky in the Semi while Samoa were smashed!

Bookies are sneaky by setting the Fiji + at +6.5! Still think its good enough though and have taken a punt on Fiji at 18/10
