Rugby League - Stobart Super League
The 2012/13 Stobart Super League kicks off this weekend and although some of the forum members may not be aware of this form of rugby it is possibly the most exciting and more importantly lucritive sports available to punt on each week with Sky sports showing at least one live game every Friday night, alongside live numerous live Saturday and Sunday games., !!
I found the handicap market to be very lucrative last season and am really looking forward to getting stuck into it again this year along with any other fans out there. If there are any other followers on the site, please let me know as i will try to put up some previews and thoughts on the market each week.
The first weeks fixtures are below with the handicap market for each game ( +or- generally priced @ 10/11).
Friday, 3 February 2012
-12 Leeds v Hull K R , 20:00
-2 Widnes v Wakefield, 20:00
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Saturday, 4 February 2012
+12 London Broncos v St Helens, 15:00
-2 Salford v Castleford, 18:00
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sunday, 5 February 2012
-2 Bradford v Catalan Dragons, 15:00
+6 Hull v Warrington, 15:00
-14 Wigan v Huddersfield, 15:00
My First weeks picks on the handiacps are Leeds, Warrington, Wigan, and Catalans. 2 units on each and a 1 unit acca as its early days and preseason form may be a bit missleading. Although i also fancy St Helens, castleford and Widnes to cover i really want to build up an idea of form before overcommiting !!

Re: Rugby League - Stobart Super League
Hi Moscow,
I use a combo of the following, BBC sport, sky sports, love rugby league, betting zone (sister site to sporting life ) as they cover this with tips each week and William hill produce a cracking podcast weekly, there are loads of stats on the official super league site www.superleague.co. too.
My theory is that as sides don't concede turnovers at rucks, and don't often kick penaltys at goal, momentumn stays with the dominant, and usually top 6 team, due to this they continue to score points thought a match and as the defending and often weeker side tire, the better teams pull further away easily covering starting and in play handicaps. If you avoid the big team head to heads you can usually get a nice double or treble in over a weekend and can make big money on the live games .
Hope this helps and good luck !!

Re: Rugby League - Stobart Super League
Leeds result comes in with 6 points to spare, listened to the game on the radio and was close for 60 mins but leeds were far stronger in the last quater. Boom
Glad i swerved the Widnes game as they started strong but faded badly, managed to get half a unit on wakefield in running for a pleasant evenings results
Of the remaining 3 fancied games the pick for me is the Catalan Dragons, with Leon Price and Louis Anderson signed in the summer along with Scott Durea and a pack of absolute monsters in the forwards i can only see one results, even with the catalans missing 4 wingers through injurys picked up in the preseason drubbing of London, the bookies feel the same moving them from a +4 handicap to -2 over the last few days. Wish this was available in play as i feel this could get ugly if Catalans start to pull away from early on. Going to leave the other 2 games in the Acca run but add another 2 units to the Catalans -2 single
Good luck Gents

Re: Rugby League - Stobart Super League
Week 2 of the Super league kicks off Friday night with a live game @ St Helens where they open their new stadium and a second Live game saturday with Wigan taking on Leeds. Full fixture list and general Handicaps are listed below
Friday, 10 February 2012
-22 St Helens v Salford, 20:00
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Saturday, 11 February 2012
-10 Catalan Dragons v Hull, 17:30
-6 Wigan v Leeds, 17:45
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sunday, 12 February 2012
-8 Castleford v Bradford, 15:30
-20 Huddersfield v Widnes, 15:00
+2 Wakefield v Hull K R, 15:30
-20 Warrington v London Broncos, 15:00
My predictions on this weekends games are as follows
St Helens to cover the -22 at home against salford, St's looked good last weekend narrowly missing out on the handicap when putting the broncos away, they will be far stronger at home for the opening night of their new stadium, they should have more than enough in attack to easily cover the cap and will be far stronger in defence where they conceeded a few week scores against a decent Broncos side. Salford were decent in small patches last weekend but ended up on the wrong end of the scoreboard against Castleford who looked to have to much on attack when they wanted to use the ball in a game played in 6 inches of snoon!! losing on their home patch on the opening night of their new staadium doesnt give me any confidence in them and i feel they will again struggle for wins on the road this season. My only concern with this is that Jamie Foster is not playing for Saints and they may miss his goal kicking as you can almost guarantee 6 points for every try when hes on the field.
This leads me onto my second pick where i fancy Castleford -8 to add to Bradfords opening weekend hammering by the Catalan Dragons who did not score a point last weekend until the 60 min mark with the game already wrapped up for the dragons at half time, Cas at home look good to me to back up their win on the road and add another defeat to a poor Bradford side
Next up and on the back of their comfortable win on the road are the Catalans @ -10 Against Hull, although Hull played well and got a suprise draw with league favourites Warrington, the Catalans at home are ging to take some stopping this year, with Leon price due to play a part this weekend too i strongly fancy the home team abnd think they will nmake the south of France a fotress this year
St Helens -22 @ 2 units
Castleford -8 @ 1 units
Catalans -10 @ 3 units
1 unit Treble
I Will add more detail on the other games if i get a chance but will be leaving Leeds and Wigam alone as i feel this will be way close to call and although i fancy Warrington to dish out some hammerings at home this season the 20 point start for the Broncos may be a bit to much as they look decent.
Huddersfield -20 looks good against Widnes, and Hull KR looked strong against Leeds last weekend with them -2 my pick against Wakefield
Good luck all

Re: Rugby League - Stobart Super League
Unbelievable first game st helens down 10-4 at half time with my money going down the pan in a bad way !! Second half they come out firing and Score 34 points to nil and the bet comes through!! BOOMMMM !!!!!!!!!!
No Jamie Foster almost costing us with Makeson taking over the kicking duties and hitting the posts twice from in front of the sticks, but the trys just kept coming !!!
Really fancy the Catalans -8 at home tomorrow, 2 units going on them to turn Hull over

Re: Rugby League - Stobart Super League
Hi guys, lots of games to keep us interested again this week with coverage on sky sports Saturday and Sunday. The fixtures are a follows
Catalans -16 vs castleford
Huddersfield vs Warrington -6 Live
Widnes vs Salford -6
Hull KR vs st Helen's -12
Hull vs London broncos +16 live
Going to take the Catalans on the minus at home with their top scorer last year Damien Blanche retuning i really think castleford will struggle after their defeat to Bradford last weekend, Wigan looked very strong againstbleeds in their last outing after a Suprise first round loss at home to Huddersfield , 12 is not enough for Bradford and strongly fancy Wigan to cover the handicap with a bit to spare.
hull KR go into, their game against st Helen's with 3 of their main playmakers out and saints have a few big names coming back from injury and this should be enough for, them to win and cover.
2 units treble on Catalans,Wigan and saints
1 units on Catalan
3 units on saints
4 units on Wigan
I will do the live games during the match when i see how the teams start but fancy warrington -6 and hull -16.
Good luck this weekend
