South Africans – don’t be duped

South Africans – don’t be duped

betWize Sports and Casino are the only fully licensed and regulated online gaming platform able to accept South African customers and Rand transactions.  betWize.com is licensed and regulated in Europe and as such are compliant to legislation which protects and ensures South African customers can continue to pursue their gaming in a safe and secure environment where customer details, deposits and customer service is guaranteed and withdrawals are processed within 24hours. Unlike other online sports and casino operators in South Africa who claim to be legislated and compliant with locally produced ‘licensing’ which offers no online gambling compliance standards or enforceable regulation to protect players, betWize.com  is internationally compliant and legislated thereby ensuring customers’ can continue to benefit from the best odds and bonuses in online sports betting and casino games in a safe and secure environment. betWize.com openly displays it’s structures and compliance, simply click on https://www.betwize.com/help.c?topic=He … opicid=356
Other operators in South Africa are unable to do so. Don’t put yourself at risk with false claims of ‘licensing and regulations’ – if a website can’t display it directly, then stay away.
Be Wize, be informed, safe betting and bet wize!

Re: South Africans – don’t be duped

The legalities are over and beyond my knowledge and I dont want to discourage general debate on the legal situation but Darklord, with respect, if its not a licensed South African operator. we can't carry ads like the one you have just posted.

Was that half a million win or place on Lucky Dan....?

Re: South Africans – don’t be duped

As far as I know Bookmakers who want to operate on our shores must have their servers and support on SA soil and must satisfy other strict criteria and guidelines.I dont think betwize have done so and nowhere do they have the "is licensed and regulated by the Western (or some other board) Gambling & Racing Board" banner.Greatodds which is an effectively  the SAfrican version of www.sportingbet.com minus the poker and games allows Safricans to bet within SA boundaries.Victor Chandler SA is another example, you bet on victorchandler.com its considered illegal but victorchandler.co.za its legal.
The bet has to take place in South African. If i place a bet with betwize I am nowing placing a bet outside SA borders which is illegal.I dont know, thats my interpertation of the laws.So i wouldnt take a chance with betwize.Be careful with Betfair as well.

Re: South Africans – don’t be duped

Agree that this sounds like a load of crap!

I had a chat with a friend who works for one of the big banks in SA and is part of there legal team. To sum it up, moscowgomez has it right.

The betting company needs to be a SA company / close corporation and registered with local gambling boards. The companies advertised on this website comply with this. Another thing to take into account is that if you use an overseas betting company (Ladbrokes, VC, William Hill, Betfair etc) you will need a clearance certificate from SARS and a foreign currency allowance from the Reserve Bank (which allows you to move money out of SA to other companies; think it is R750K pa). I know this because I have accounts in the UK from which I can't move money around freely with anymore. It is possible to move the money around, you just need to get through some red tape...

In short, it will be illegal to bet with Betwize. You will be able to move your money into an account with them but try get it back..... The local banks are obligated to confiscate your money when you try withdraw your money back to SA! I wouldn't chance it!

Re: South Africans – don’t be duped

Sounds like Moscow is plugging his company here. :-) and taking a flying shot in the dark with betfair and betwize. The current act does not implicate overseas registered books as illegal - it is the South African registered  and operating within South African border gambling sites that are impacted. If you look at the Western Province gamblinbg license it is as relevant as a pork chop in a barmitvah - it is not a recognised or white labelled license so carries no international or even local weight for that matter since the new court decision (which overrides it) so Sportingbet.co.za and its White Label operators are running off cowboy licenses. VCBet are better off dropping their co.za URL and just operating off their .com
I don't see Ladbrokes and others (including Betfair) rejecting South African customers or discontinuing Rands as a deposit currency. The major impact is on banking transactions, so any online betting company whose payment gateways are in SA are going to be open to government litigation. Companies like Ladbrokes, VCBet, BetWize and BetFair have payment gateways outside of South Africa, so these transactions do not take place in SA. Besides this curretnJudicial decision has been put in place while the Gaming Board and its members try and figure out a way of legislating online gambling and protecting South Africans who are playing in unlegislated sites from exploitation.
So apologies Moscow dude, you PR piece is very relevant to the header of this forum - South Africans - don't be duped! You are doing the duping dude by interpreting the legislation in favour of your gambling company. Nice one!

Re: South Africans – don’t be duped

Ever heard of e-Wallets Justin? How can South Africa or any other country for that matter track money movements through an e-wallet? Welcome to the 21st Century. But thanks for trying to support your mate Moscow with fear tactics.

Could someone clarify the foreign allowance clearance from sars?, does that mean  if you have money is Swaziland then you can play casino games with Piggs from SA?

Re: South Africans – don’t be duped

DL and CS take a look at the attached statement from the gambling board (I hope it comes through, never added an attachment before) - I think it is pretty clear and should really end the debate

Edit: Sorry attachement did not come through - you can view the statement at this link http://www.ngb.org.za/

Yes I have heard of it and to be honest I haven't thought about using it.

I am not trying to scare people with "fear tactics". I know where my bank (Investec) stands regarding the issue and I am sharing it on this thread. If you know better who am I to argue.

Ladbrokes and the like won't stop saffers from opening accounts with them (I am one of them) and if one so chooses to use e-wallets or paypal as a payment gateway then go ahead. Imo I am not willing to take the chance and have said as much.

Thanks for the welcome to the 21st century. Here I was thinking WTF!

Re: South Africans – don’t be duped

I thought it was pretty black and white - you've got to be locally licenced, be a SA registered company and have a local banking relationship, no matter how good you are elsewhere, be it UK, Europe or wherever. I'm not saying i'm for that rigid approach, just a fact of how things have been set and stand. I've experienced the red tape 1st hand a few years back, was frustrating after seeing a lot of time and effort come to nothing.

Re: South Africans – don’t be duped

This thread looks like a typical attempt to promote a betting website unethically ie : A new poster advertises the benefits of a betting site that no-one has heard of, and a couple of posts later, another phantom coincidentally pops up in support of the platform. This tactic seems to be the M.O. for Darklord and CockSpur, who have used this type of guerilla marketing on other forums in the past.  Spurs Reign / Cockspur - obviously the same person.
http://forum.sbrforum.com/sports-promot … twize.html

Quite ironic then how Moscowgomez is being accused of favouring certain bookmakers when these 2 tag team all over the internet.

The bottom line is that these gents are trying to entice South Africans to participate in illegal betting activities, and using sweeteners such as 'South Africa's preferred bookmaker' even though they only display the Union Jack and Swedish Flag on their homepage.

' I remember going to Cairo a few years ago and even the street children there speak Afrikaans.

As for Darklord's comment about  Betwize being ' compliant to legislation which protects and ensures South African customers can continue to pursue their gaming in a safe and secure environment' - that is entirely false, as South Africans have very little chance of recovering winnings from a non-South African website that refuses to pay.
South African customers are protected by their jurisdictional Gambling Boards as securites are lodged by bookmakers before getting their licences and these are used to pay clients in the case of emergency. With operators like Betwize - there is no security or guarantee.

There is an entire forum dedicated to Betwize and it does make interesting reading for those who are contemplating taking the risk of signing up.
