Wallabies v All Blacks and Currie Cup week 10

Wallabies v All Blacks and Currie Cup week 10

First up we have posted a betting update on the Currie Cup http://www.goodforthegame.co.za/rugby/c … pdate.html

There were a couple of bookies still to price up but I have not seen any major differences. During the course of the day the annoucement about the contracted Boks was made and I found myself wondering whether the Lions could possibly be worth a speculative play at 33/1?

Any thoughts as to which of the sides will be favoured? My understanding was that this was expected however some of the players included and excluded are something of a surprise.

Onto the weekends action and I see Betxchange are 2/1 Australia and 4/10 New Zealand with the handicap set at 6 points.

The match takes place in Sydney and while Australia may be a bit travel weary the make up of the sides will also be interesting.

Needless to say if conditions are good I am likely a buyer in this one.

Re: Wallabies v All Blacks and Currie Cup week 10

Betx appear to be first out with the Currie Cup caps this week

Pumas +19 v Sharks
Lions -12 v Griquas
WP -46 v Leopards
Cheetahs +5 v Bulls

I fancy WP to bounce back but 46 points is alot and the bet that stands out for me is Cheetahs +5 - I would have thought a choice game or perhaps even Cheetahs slight favourites at home?

Re: Wallabies v All Blacks and Currie Cup week 10

46 points is outrageous! Thats massive, the Leopards have only lost by that big a margin to the Cheetahs in Bloem. I know they are not the best side but recall the previous game where WP were leading by 31 with 4 minutes to go and ending up winning by 17! No need for WP to beat them by 40+, just get the bonus point win and stay away from injuries.

I am on the Leopards +46!

Agree with the Cheetahs Brent, value indeed!

Lions cap is a bit high and I am not touching the Sharks again this year!

Agree Cheetahs look pick of those, i'd probably say Lions next best for me, real momentum and belief for them now and feel Griquas will come unstuck away from home.

I fancy the Leopards at that rediculous spread, but I have to say that I like the Griqas. They have beaten the Lions the last 3 games they played each other and although the Lions is a vastly different team, I think the cap is to big.

A Champion gets up even if he can't!

Re: Wallabies v All Blacks and Currie Cup week 10

There is a new poll up for the best Currie Cup bet published on the r/h side of the home page and rugby page. A bit more user freindly than the last version.

RB - My first thought was also that 46 for the Leopards is a big number.

Was that half a million win or place on Lucky Dan....?

Re: Wallabies v All Blacks and Currie Cup week 10

Phew I managed to snaffle 11 units to 10 the +5 Cheetahs tie no bet before it went +2.5.

I see the WP handicap has gone -44 so a small adjustment there as well.

Completely off the topic, but i've been trying to load an "avatar or profile pic" atleast 10 times in the past month and it never works. I've made sure the pic is tiny so definitely not too big, but website keeps saying "Bad request pictures only"!!

Any tips, (Brent), getting a bit painful.. Tks

First with the head, and then with the heart!!

Hmmmm not sure what the problem could be and hopefully Mackem has some thoughts - will get back to you on that one.

Having seen the Bulls side I am not as confident about the +5 which now looks about right - my money is down though so hoping the Cheetahs get up.

Preview of the Tri Nations test is up http://www.goodforthegame.co.za/rugby/t … aland.html

I am siding with Gareth and Sean who comment on the Currie Cup matches as well in this weekends Rugby Podcast http://gftg.podomatic.com/entry/2010-09-08T16_35_04-07_00

Nedles to say though I am waiting for the spreads where I am more than likley going to be a buyer of spreads and shirts.

I know the Lions lost the last three against them but they are in form and Bet x has them 14/1 1-12 and 100/1 13+
on the margin spreads.

Was going to sit out the first half but could not resist a shirts play

1 unit high Sharks shirts at 64 with Betx and 1 unit high match shirts at 98

High quotes but I reckon we are in for tries tonight!

Hoping I can avoid the fate that I have suffered on recent Friday nights...

Re: Wallabies v All Blacks and Currie Cup week 10

What on earth happened there?

This match will go in my book one day - how i lost a fortune from where I was standing after 20 minutes I will never know - Sharks how can you not score a try for 60 min?

The weekend can't begin until I take my Friday night rodgering!

Re: Wallabies v All Blacks and Currie Cup week 10

bad performance by the Sharks but Pumas average points difference for the season is 13.4 a game.  Big spreads always dangerous. So often once the game is won soft tries are scored or superior team goes to sleep.

Re: Wallabies v All Blacks and Currie Cup week 10

The sad things is the Sharks dominated territory and looked as though they were trying but were just not good enough - a few turning points for shirts but Lambies greed at start of 2nd half perhaps the biggest.

Oh well another Saturday which will have to yield a fightback!

Good to see you on the forum Jinxbok!

Re: Wallabies v All Blacks and Currie Cup week 10

Not really, they dominated the 2nd half so not sure they stepped off the gas although there is an inevitable relaxing, Kockott penalty goes over (not sure why they were going for posts) and they beat the cap  - just played badly

To not score a try against the Pumas in 60 minutes - that is a freak occurence

I guess you on the Leopards plus today Cats?

Re: Wallabies v All Blacks and Currie Cup week 10

they went for posts as they just wanted to win the game and not get any injuries.  Its that simple imo.  Easy afterwards but my theory has worked more times than not this season and thats all I care about. As you know I dont have the brains for spreads so who scores and what number they are immeterial to me.

WP home game, need the plus points difference, so wont be having a bet. If I was I would go Leopards to be honest.

Now the Lions could certainly use a bonus point win, like them to beat the cap and get amongst the points today

Re: Wallabies v All Blacks and Currie Cup week 10

Seriously depressed - showed a small overall profit thanks to shirts but how did the Lions butcher that final move - they had to score!!!!

Best Bet loses by half a point - sick - just not my weekend it seems

Low on Cheetahs v Bulls match shirts at 69 for 2 units

Re: Wallabies v All Blacks and Currie Cup week 10

What a strange punting day!
Lions lose cap by half a meesly point ! I went against the stats which screamed Griquas + sad Idiotic move. Griquas are the cap kings and had beaten the Lions on previous 3 occasions before today! It was close but gutted I did not stick to my stats guns sad

All Blacks were useless for 60 minutes. Aaron Cruden is rubbish and they were a different side with Slade at #10. Backline was much better with Slade there. Was on Aus and match Shirts too so a big snotklap for me in that game sad

Leopards +46 Snuck in smile The WP-40.5 would have also won as would the Leopards +43 so hope everyone cashed!

Cheetahs+5 cashed wit ease smile

And the Under 19 bets from King cashed smile

Biggest Bet lost and got some wins to claw some back! Small loss for the day and if I left the Tri Nations alone I would have had a much better day! Good news is that there is no Tri Nation next week  beersmiley

Re: Wallabies v All Blacks and Currie Cup week 10

A very strange day for me as well.

Lost on match shirts in the Tri Nation to drop 100 units down for the weekend and although I showed a 6 unit profit in the Lions game I could tell it was not my weekend when that cap missed - there was a penalty which led to the Griquas try which I thought was tiff and as for the Lions reserve hooker getting greedy, what a clown.

High on WP shirts at 89 - they core 9 tries and I still do 18 points (36 units) but amazingly I hit max profit selling shirts in Cheetahs game. I say amazing because there were 2 tries in 4 minutes - I thought I was gone.

Overall a day where I never got the rub of the green and was off my best but battled hard to make inroads into last nights loss although a losing weekend overall.

Re: Wallabies v All Blacks and Currie Cup week 10

Was not all doom and gloom fo me this weekend, I backed Australia/New Zealand in the HT/FT market at 5/1. Serves a certain bookie right for voiding my midweek international game, felt the need to get my money back with a bit of interest LOL!
