Tiger Woods headlines this week’s AT& T which takes place at the par 70 Aronimink golf course in Pennsylvania but with question marks still hanging over his game and frame of mind I will be looking to take advantage of bigger prices elsewhere.
I will certainly be watching Tiger with interest as I backed him to win at least one major when he made his comeback and I must admit to being rather concerned by what I have seen to date. I will be hoping for improvement this week but on a course where all of the players make their debuts I won’t be tempted by the 7/2 on offer at GreatOdds about a Woods win.
My first pick is Sean O’Hair who has had a quiet season especially when compared to 2009. He is a local man though and fought back well to finish T12 at the US Open suggesting he may be about to recapture lost form. On a course where ball striking is expected to be key an in form O’Hair certainly fits the bill as a possible winner at 25/1.
Next up is Rickie Fowler who has threatened to break his duck on more than one occasion this season. He is 5th in GIR and top 15 in Total Driving and I have a feeling when he gets his win there will be a big boy or two in the field and they don’t get bigger than Tiger. There is 30/1 on offer at Betxchange and I will nibble on that.
Ryan Moore just failed to deliver each way returns at the Travelers Championship last week but I was impressed with his finish and with his combination of length and accuracy off the tee he could be a factor on this course where the greens are also likely to be fast something which Moore relishes. He is 40/1 for the win and that is big enough to tempt me into giving him another chance.
Another guy I was on last week but who fell just short is Brendon De Jonge. His recent form is excellent and he has 4 top 10’s to his credit and contended early at the US Open. Last week he was 80/1 and this week there is 125/1 on offer about one of the most consistent performers on Tour at present. I cannot ignore that sort of value and will be hoping the Zimbabwean can keep me interested on Sunday night.
