Olympics Betting Comp Part 2: The Race to 10k was created by Brent Graham
Well done to Southpaw for getting to the 10k mark in the 1st comp with some larger odds early and a 9/20 shot to get him over the line.

He has kindly offered his R500 prize (originally donated by Hanrick) back into the pot so we will have another go. Same comp as before.

If you want to play and have not registered on the forum Click here to register and any problems e-mail This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Here is how it will work
• Each punters starts with R1000 virtual money for their 1st bet
• NB. This R1000 does not carry through to the next betting round should your bet land
• Each punter bets their R1000 on any Olympic event, the price must not be higher than 3/1
• Any winnings are carried forward as the balance into the next round. For example if you back a 9/10 shot and win your balance is R900.
• The balance will then be bet on another Olympic event and the total will be carried forward including the stake
• If your bet loses you are out BUT can re-enter the day after your best loses

How do you win
• The 1st punter to reach a R10k balance wins the R500 cash prize (overseas players can be paid by Paypal)
• If nobody reaches 10k the punter with the highest balance reached at any point will be the winner
• If Chris, Hanrick or I will play we will play for the house, if we win we will do another comp for the prize

To enter
• Place your bet on this thread showing the following information

Date, bet, price, bookie, end balance e.g

24 July: Cycling Road Race, Pogacar Podiun at 23/20 WSB 1150/1000 (1150)

If this lands 1150 will be staked on the next bet
If it loses the punter can re-enter but only for events from 25 July
NB: Always show your end balance should the bet win

Rules
• Bets must be placed before the event starts (no in-running bets)
• Price must be available at the time of placing the bet
• Players to keep their own balances and to carry them through
• Only 1 bet allowed per day
• You do not have to bet every day
• Single bets only
• No editing of threads
• Judges decision is final

Let me know if anything is not clear it should be good fun. The 1st bet is crucial as this will be the base balance you use to get to the 10k.

My Kenya ladies tanked today so wondered through the tennis for a new start on the morrow. Came up with Russia v Serbia Mixed or Djoko v Zverev over 2.5 sets. Prefer the singles as the odds are longer. Don't see anything in the rules preventing me from joining Naidoo here but if there is I shall withdraw gracefully ie Head held high with feet held higher.

Funnily enough, I like Djokovic vs Zverev too!

When I saw it earlier posted by Naidoo I thought that yes, both of them have cruised so far and in this match-up they should go the distance with both being in great form.
I looked around for other bets in the meantime, but nothing stands out so far, other than China to beat Japan in 7s, but over 2.5 sets at bet365 is at a crazy odds of 3.25!

Nice Brent. Competition is still on the go but two players could make R10k tomorrow. The rules are not specific re same day finishes. I would like to propose a same day finish means prize is shared otherwise Wager Warlock and myself have to sit up all night to try and place a bet that will land one minute earlier or pay R1 more. Your call.

I believe we both did so congrats to WW.
Many thanks to Hanrick and Southpaw for the dosh.
I think I may allocate my share to proactive prevention measures in the event a Squire or two should get lucky. Would hate for a little "Wham,Bam,Thank-you Maám" to add to the world's population of spotty Herberts.
Will email details to Brent.
