Super Rugby Week 3, Pro 14 + other rugby was created by Brent Graham
Another full house of Super Rugby fixtures to look forward to. Overall very quiet start for me due to loads of kids sport and likely to be similar next week.

I imagine the likes of WSB may be out with handicaps but I have not looked and here are my projections

Blu -3.5 v Chi
Red -2.5 v Bru
Sun +17.5 v Reb
Cru -14.5 v Sto
Sha -7.5 v Tahs
Bul +5.5 v Lio
Jag +12.5 v Hur

There is no 6 Nations this weekend.

Looking forward to some educated thoughts on all the weekends rugby, let's hit them hard

PS Will open a separate thread for the Las Vegas 7's

Maties are good but a -27.5 handicap against a resilient Wits that downed Tuks already this season. I'm with Wits on this one.

Wits +27.5 shud bring home the bacon today

Not looked around for any lines but my first instinct for weekend early best bets:

Brumbies win or any plus. I will be opposing reds all season. Higginbottom banned for 3 weeks as well.

Sunwolves on biggest plus. Will get better the more they play together.

Canes to bounce back and get a big win in Argentina, best minus.

Betx and GG out with caps. I'm within 3 points with all the caps I made except for the Bulls Lions game, I made that a choice game. Hammering Bulls +10.5, don't know where they've got that one from.

fyi Bulls +10.5 is the widely available line in UK and in Aus and NZ so SA books probably following their lead.

Christmas sale now on Betxchange:
Bulls +10 & Rebels -7

I have priced these games as +2 & -15 respectively.

I actually believe the bulls might win outright this weekend. The score in lions game flattered them.
Rebels were extremely clinical and like them to cover the 7 points.

Blind leading the blind then. Going to be a hell of a lot more people at Loftus for the game and coaching will make all the difference. Bulls for me have a better team on paper and with Mitchell drilling them, they will show their class this season. People forget what an average squad Ackerman turned into world beaters at the Lions and I think Mitchell has been given more to work with at the Bulls than Ackerman had to start with. The have a superior backline with Pollard at 10 and I think they have some quality young forwards that just needed to get taught how pass every now and then. Last time I see myself getting a double digit handicap at Loftus this season.

I fancied the Rebels strongly before this past weekend, but for me they were poor. That says a lot about the Reds. Take Jamie Josephs on at your own peril. I was hoping for a double digit plus on the Wolves

Have jumped on Blues +1

Chiefs have injury problems, Tim Nanai-Williams is out for the season. Charlie Ngatai and Dominic Bird out for a couple of weeks at least.

Plus 3 others going through concussion protocols.

Don't think they have the depth in the squad to cover these losses. Think this is a great bet despite the shortcomings in the Blues pack.

The handicaps aren't out for the Pro 14 games but here would be my expectations;

Kings+6 v Dragons
Edinburgh +2 v Munster
Ulster -1 v Glasgow
Cardiff -13 v Treviso
Scarlets -3 v Leinster
Zebre +4 v Ospreys
Cheetahs -10 v Connacht

Just an aside, the temperature in Europe is set to plummet in the next few days and is expected to last till Friday so there could be a few cancelled or at the very least postponed games. It may affect teams traveling to other countries so that's just something to be aware of. Anytime rugby is played in extreme weather I always think the home team will benefit more from the conditions as it's an extra doubt in the minds of the away team. The handicaps will be very interesting this week.

For sure the Bulls +10.5 looks a value punt and i'm also leaning with it. But Bulls better team on paper? Take the 15 that started for each side last week, put them next to each other, and have a good run through & compare. It simply doesn't stack up.

But if you're saying better coached on paper this year, then i think i hear you. Early days but Mitchell probably the guy who can get the most out of a side over this long distance tournament compared to de Bruin, and his knowledge of game abroad a big plus for trip down under.

hi guys new here love reading all your guys thoughts.

my thoughts on the weekend are
Blues to beat the chiefs, looking at taking -6.5 here for a great price.
Sunwolves total tries looking at what i can get for over here, surely they will score over 3 tries.
Bulls +10.5 is looking good for me.

thanks guys
good luck! (B)

Matter of opinion I guess. I believe a lot of the Lions players only archived as much as they did thanks to Ackermans coaching. For me players like Elton, Mapoe, Coetzee and Skosan are very overrated and were just at the right place at the right time. They are not international quality and I can see all their places being taken in the national team by youngsters from the Sharks and Bulls who will receive better coaching this year.

My combined team would be:

1. Pierre Schoeman
2. Malcolm Marx
3. Frans van Wyk
4. RG Snyman
5. Franco Mostert (left out Lood but wouldn't mind any 2 of these 3 locks)
6. Kwagga Smith
7. Hanro Liebenberg
8. Warren Whiteley
9. Ross Cronje
10. Handre Pollard
11. John-Ben Kotze
12. Harold Vorster
13. Jesse Kriel
14. Sylvian Mahuza/Aphiwe Dyantyi
15. Warrick Gelant(if fit)

Sharks better not let us down this weekend. It's seems a lot of us have them down as a banker. This Waratahs team disappoints on most occasions, Even tho they have a few match winners in their side on a good day. Let's hope Sharks don't do what they did to punters in April last year against a rubbish Rebels side in Durban!

This weekend looks too easy which is as exciting as it is worrying.

Agree on the Brumbies Hanrick, think Reds are in for a long season!
The Bulls are +11.5 at 8/10 SportingBet and that is a cracker. Not sure of Mostert at 7, Kwagga big loss and Ruan Dreyer is the worst at scrum time. Geez that oke is frustrating to watch!
Bulls tails are up after that massive opening win and a double digit dog off the back of a win against the tournament favourites ... too golden!

Then fancy the half time handicap in the Saders v Stormers match. Think the Saders come out firing!

Main bet is the Sharks -5 against the Tahs. The Tahs faced the Sharks in round 3 last year and got drilled 37-14. Tahs were lucky to get the win against the Stormers while the Sharks will want to get a much needed win. Tahs last 10 away matches in Superugby have only seen 3 Tahs wins against the Reds, Rebels and Sunwolves. Sharks -5 GOLDEN!

On the Pro14
Cheetahs -8.5 is a gift and Dragons -1.5 vs the Kings looks too easy

Scared money dont make money! BOOM!

no SBW for Blues a bit of a negative, but am still confident the evens win is a cracker, Chiefs look vulnerable right now especially if McKenzie doesn't fire.

Taken Brumbies -4.5 as posted earlier in week, i will oppose Reds all season until they prove me wrong.

Sharks last 2 home games against Tah's both comfortable wins, hoping for an open game and a strike on Sharks points overs if conditions good. For now will take the minus.

of the rest i think Saders could put some pain on the Stormers if get on top early, but possibly Stormers on best +HT cap and Saders on best 2nd half minus cap.

I like your thinking on the Cardiff Treviso game. I think teams don't necessarily like playing in Italy hence why there record is so lopsided there. I genuinely think this game might not go ahead. but if it does i'd be all over cardiff to beat Treviso who are due a hammering.

Sharks should still cover the -5.5 but I am not as bullish and have taken some cover on the Tahs +8.5

Sharks – 15 Lwazi Mvovo, 14 Kobus van Wyk, 13 Lukhanyo Am, 12 André Esterhuizen, 11 Sbu Nkosi, 10 Rob du Preez, 9 Louis Schreuder, 8 Keegan Daniel, 7 Tyler Paul, 6 Jacques Vermeulen, 5 Stephan Lewies, 4 Ruan Botha (c), 3 Thomas du Toit, 2 Franco Marais, 1 Beast Mtawarira.
Subs: 16 Akker van der Merwe, 17 Juan Schoeman, 18 John-Hubert Meyer, 19 Hyron Andrews, 20 Tera Mtembu, 21 Cameron Wright, 22 Marius Louw, 23 Curwin Bosch.
