Fifa World Cup 2018 Outrights and All Matches

Countdown on to Russia 2018. Over the course of the next week we will publish previews and picks for each group before looking for an overall outright winner pick and whatever else takes the eye from a mountain of betting markets available.

Will probably start a separate thread for the group matches but in the meantime all pre-tournament outright bets are most welcome here.

To get the ball rolling here's my take on Group A . I might well add to this in due course but for now with or without Salah I fancy Egypt to qualify at 6/4 or better if you shop around,

Looking forward to this tourny and appreciate all opinions and tips from forum members.

Thanks Mackem. All info helps us in SA as we never got the European Qualifiers and the South American Qualifiers took place in the early hours of the morning - definitely after my bedtime. I think we head into this tournament at a disadvantage to the books and I will be keeping stakes low during the qualifying rounds. Onto Outrights
Golden Boot
Probably looking at 6 goals here which has won in seven of the last ten tournaments ( 5 twice and 8 once ).Of the seven teams ranked 45 or higher in the tournament three of them are in Group A with Uruguay. I'm thinking Cavani or Suarez an am going with their penalty taker
Suarez @ 25/1
Golden Ball
This is a player of the tournament award. The FIFA Technical committee compile a list which is then voted on by the accredited media. Usually need the team to make the semi's to get on this list. I have noticed several footie journalists picking Iniesta for this award. If Spain makes the semi's I think this bet has legs
Iniesta @ 30/1

Thanks Vann and Brazil, I'm thinking / hoping that a chunk of the African qualifying form is being underestimated. I spent ages looking at the final standings of qualifying groups and some of those European groups were pretty weak, never mind Central & North America and Asia etc..

I think the draw for these finals could have been much kinder for the African nations so it will be tough going but all 5 there on merit and some traditionally strong teams like Ghana and Ivory Coast missed out

Usually struggle to fit my outrights into 10 units but no such problem in this tournament.
Brazil look to have the goods and the only sides that should worry them are Spain, Germany and Argentina. If the groups go as expected Brazil will only meet one of them - and that in the final. First up
Brazil win @ 4/1 6 units
No matter how rubbish the Germans are they always reach the semi's or the final
Final Brazil v Germany @ 12/1 2 units
As previously explained - the golden boot needs around 6 goals. There are 5 matches before the semi's to get 6 goals. In the last eight tournaments 2 1/2 Golden boots have not reached the semi's ( The half being Solenko in 1994. ) I make the odds on this bet around 3/1 but we are being offered better - so based on the odds
Player to win Golden Boot and team not to reach the semi's Yes @ 5/1 2 units
( My beer bet selections will follow before the tournament starts )

Have to love the quirky bets My favourite
England to beat Argentina with one goal clearly scored by hand @ 1986/1
Beer allocations
I have seen Peru a couple of times and the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. The odds of 17/10 for qualification from Group C look about right - but - surely France should cruise the group which means we can get Peru to qualify at much better odds
Group C Finishing positions
1) France 2) Peru @ 31/10
While on the subject of 1) and 2) The group most suited looks like Group D so
Group D
1) Argentina 2) Croatia @ 7/4
And we are also invited to predict 1) - 4) Anyone thinking of trying this on Group H should immediately seek medical attention!!
Best looking group for this is
Group E
1) Brazil 2) Switzerland 3) Serbia 4) Costa Rica @ 3/1

Last three beers from the six pack
Group H looks impossible to call and the books agree with qualifying from the group ranging from 7/20 to 2/1. My beers need better than 2/1 which gives me
Japan to be eliminated in last 16 @ 3/1
Tadic was in good scoring form at the end of the EPL season and he probably needs only one goal for this bet to land
Serbia top tournament goal scorer Tadic @ 7/2
Morocco is the best African team in the tournament and they conceded NIL goals in qualifying. Coupled with Portugal's quality defence and the fact that you never see the ball when you play Spain I think Iran are in trouble. Iran scored 10 goals in their last 10 qualifying matches and - I think Mackem's Panama pick is right up there - but for the price of a fine craft beer I prefer
Team with fewest goals in the tournament Iran @ 19/2

In 2014, 8 teams did not win a single game
In 2010, 8 teams did not win a single game
In 2006, 11 teams did not win a single game
In 2002, 7 teams did not win a single game

Iran & Panama not to win a game not to win a game @ 2.25 seems like a decent move
Costa Rica @ 1.70, Australia @ 1.66, South Korea @ 1.72 and Japan @2.10 or even Peru @2.50 are also tempting.

On the goal scorer I like Suarez over 2.5 goals @2

Looking at today's two Group C matches hard to imagine anything over 1-0 so here is a GFTG World Exclusive long odds bet for those with more money then sense ( I really miss those emoticons ).
When I checked yesterday the referee for the Denmark v Australia match was still listed as Lahoz from La Liga ( 20 matches - 113 yellows and 7 reds ). Did the Liverpool v ManC Champion's League clash and Pep said he made up the rules as he went along. The Aussie manager is Marwijk ( Managed De Jongh at WC 2010 - remember the tackle in the final? )
A little something from the exotics
