Rugby: Currie Cup Semi-Finals, European Champions Cup, Mitre10 + other

Guys getting this thread started early purely because I want to have a go at my Currie Cup semi-final handicaps before the bookies price up and I expect we will get some lines tomorrow (Sunday)

WP -19.5 v Bulls - can the bookies bring themselves to price a playoff match above 20 points? I suspect we may get quotes below 20 but reckon there would be money for WP at these levels

Sharks -10.5 v Lions

Look forward to your thoughts

Thanks BG for your awesome videos as always. Agree with you. Going for -18 at GGG for WP. Think the least they have won by is 22 points and even though its semi's i dont see bulls coming close at WP home. Just hoping the WP train doesnt stop until end of currie cup haha.

JOHANNESBURG - Golden Lions coach Cash van Rooyen is hoping to get the green light on Tuesday to pick four key Springbok players for Saturday’s Currie Cup semi-final against the Sharks in Durban.

Van Rooyen, who has stood in for regular coach Swys de Bruin during this year’s shortened Currie Cup competition, said on Monday that a call on whether or not he could consider selecting Warren Whiteley, Malcolm Marx, Franco Mostert and Aphiwe Dyantyi for the trip to Durban would be made on Tuesday.

Hard to believe it's Tuesday lunchtime with SA's premier rugby competition semi's coming up on Saturday and apparently only two books out with prices. Kinda tired of licenses being handed out willy nilly to local fraidy cat accountants - Could someone with balls please take up the challenge.

I have been following your comments every week and have finally decided to become a part of the action.

Have taken a early multi on the Mitre 10 cup. Backing all the home teams to cover the cap on Sportingbet:

Waikato vs Northland (Wai -9.5)
Otago vs Hawke's Bay (Ota -8.5)
Auckland vs Wellington (Auc -3.5)
Tasman vs Canterbury (Tas -2.5)

Let me know your thoughts

Welcome Scoembo

Funnily enough I placed an acca earlier with all 4 favourite home teams to win on the board @ 5.37

Will likely have a play on the Waikato -9.5 also

Good for you man!

Yeah I reckon that's the way to go. Waikato pumped Northland at the same venue a few weeks ago. Hawkes Bay have that "make no tackles" policy although they can score some nice tries. Wellington came up short at home against Auckland and Tasman has been there and done that against Canterbury.

Calling Quill and/or any other NRC followers. Why are the Western Force 6.5 point underdogs for their semi this weekend? They are second favorite to win the competition.

Bit of a disaster last week for me, limited involvement and one rash angry bet and rest was history.

But back with my head on this time, best bet of European rugby this weekend for me -

Toulon +4.5 @ Edinburgh.

I simply cannot see them not being fired up for this, it's almost a knockout game for them after suffering a home loss in R1. Just the sort of rocket to wake up some of the lazy stars in their squad.

I'm also adding smaller bet Toulon win @ just over 1.55/1.

For those punters who are undecided but would not turn down a small profit on the semi's try
Lions + 5.5 @ 13/10 (BetXchange - 1 unit)
Sharks - 5.5 @ 9/10 (Sunbet - 1.2 units)

Sharks v Golden Lions preview

www.goodforthegame.co.za/Currie-Cup-2018...betting-preview.html

I'm going with home win by under 12.5 points, just waiting for some more betting to come up to add the price.

Sunbet have Sharks -5.5 right now if anyone likes the home side on the cap, most books are 8.5. I still prefer the 1-12 but thought that was worth mentioning

One game that's caught my eye tonight in the Challenge Cup is La Rochelle V Enisey

Last week the French won by 61 points in Russia and tonight they play them again and Sunbet have the cap @ -47.5

I think it's a stand out bet with La Rochelle playing virtually the same team as last week.

Scarlets +5 vs Leicester tonight is my biggest bet for months.

Yes it's Welford Road, but should be a good track and dry weather, which suits their style of play.
Leicester have discipline issues and have been poor at the breakdown.

Will be a worry if Dan Jones (Scarlets starting 10) goes down, but quite willing to take a risk on this.

Smaller play Scarlets on the board at 2.70 as think they're a decent chance of winning the match.

Have also put Scarlets +5 with Dragons +6 and Benetton +3 for a Friday night acca.

Was liking this play as well South , but agreeably this Toulon side is nothing like its predessors . Generally il disciplined mercanaries .. Will prob punt th eplus as well , but all my logic screams for me to stay away from this one.

I’m actually feeling more confident today after teams announced. I really can’t have Edinburgh as 5 point favourites, think the bookies are reading into last week only. The Scots are an average Pro14 side and I don’t know why the cap has gone out a point. May have a further nibble at the +5.5. The Top14 is far tougher than the Pro14.

Scarlets in hindsight missing perhaps 3 or 4 key players too which didn't help.

Will look to get back on track with some Waikato -9......

I took WP -18 earlier in the week.
Plus some WP -7.5 half time.

I don't expect the Bulls to score many points and can easily see WP scoring a lot of tries.

European rugby has just been a horror show for me, even after following bets here. So for now I'll stay away from that.

As things have gone today on a spiral dive , lumped on Toulon against my better judgement , or no judgement for that matter as my form is non existent , however I'm still able to stop trains at the moment . Toulon as absolute crap , no discipline and no heart , what has happened to them .
Have taken under 59.5 in CT and hoping for a fast start to press .

I hear you South , for the last two months or so what ever I punt loses and what I leave wins , it's uncanny , never seen anything like it . At least I got plus 13.5 Toulon in running to give me a shout . Went under in the Sharks game , backed gliucester plus , backed scarlets , tiny bet under in CT .

Also need a re think .
