Rugby Weekend 14/12

Another weekend of Euro Rugby.

Last weekend was superb, 8/11 winners posted.

This weekend for the Champions Cup at least we have the reverse of last weekend fixtures.

Once again it is best to wait for team sheets before taking a punt, some sides have tricky games next weekend and may now have thrown in the towel on this years Euro conquest.

The following are Betx Caps.

Ulster -5,5 v Scarlets.
Gloucester -2,5 v Exeter
Cardiff +12,5 v Sarries.
Glasgow -21,5 v Lyon
Toulouse -17,5 v Wasps
Castres +3,5 v Munster
Leinster -24,5 v Bath

Newcastle -2,5 v Edinburgh
Montpellier -9,5 v Toulon.

In my view 21pts start not enough for Lyon. Have a huge game against Toulon week after in top 14, and their hopes gone in this tournament.

Glasgow looking hungry in this tournament, day game, artificial turf. Could get messy.

Agree on Glasgow, South. Ever since Dave Rennie became their coach I started following them and they have been very kind to me the past 2 years.

On the -21.5

Early call this week on Gloucester to win against Exeter. The Chiefs have only a few chances to qualify and with 2 away games this week end at Gloucester and later on at Munster, I don’t see them bringing their top squad especially when they have few key players already injured and a home game against Sarries the following week end. I can see the odd dropping later on this week so giving it a go today.

Bernard Jackman has left the Dragons. We'll almost certainly see an upturn in results now from now on. Maybe not against Clermont on Saturday (but maybe if the handicap is over the top) but it's owned by the WRU...and they will start to turn this around. Jackman was too authoratarian for many and his going should definately lift the mood of the place. So we might get some nice punting opportunities in the next month or two. I will keep a track on it and report back!!

Very sad to read this morning that another French “kid” died on a rugby pitch.
This is the second one in less than 5 months and this is scary – where is our rugby going? What is World Rugby doing?
The number of head injuries has been growing very badly in the past few years and the number of players who have to rest for few weeks is becoming ridiculous – and still nothing done to avoid this!!
2 kids, 20 and 19, have died already and if nothing is done, when will be the next one?
Sorry for the roar but this is making me sick and this is not the rugby I used to love…..

Thanks Bradie - Followed you on this earlier in the week and after seeing teams have gone in for some more. (Exeter have several injuries).

Gloucester -2,5 Exeter not named a strong side at all.

Then this week I am going with Scarlets +7,5, the 2 sides looked evenly matched on paper, slight fav should be Ulster as they at home and have more to play for, Scarlets coming off a couple of losses now and they need to stop the rot, I can see them being in BP range.

A lot of rain forecast in the UK and Europe this weekend.

Bookies seem to have noticed the heavy rain at Beziers tonight in Pro D2, and have sadly priced up accordingly. Have however gone for some margins which are a point or so too high.

Weather in Ulster tomorrow very poor. Will be looking for points markets when they are released

Just to add what Northerner has said about the weather....tonight it seems that the Gloucester match will be ok...but there will be light rain and a lot of wind in the Ulster match...

It looks very grim on Saturday..

But the interesting thing is that bookies are proposing a over 41.5 @ Glou and 42.5 @ Ulster...

Couple more 1st team players back for the Blues than expected, including Navidi (part of a monster back row) and Halaholo.

This is what I have gone with, hopefully it there hasn't been to much movement on the caps and prices.
Edinburgh +3,5 ( I feel they have the better pack overall, game should be a scratch game imo so happy to take 3 points starts)

Munster win 11/20, they clearly going for it and only 1 change since last week.

Bath +24,5, they have named a good side, I don't see them getting walloped to badly.

Sarries -11,5 for me, I think their pack will simply squash Cardiff.

Racing win 7/10

Tmisoara +37,5 against a C team from Saints.

Sale -27,5 against a B team UBB

After much thought I'm going for Ulster -6 tonight....The Scarlets have nothing to play for (can make a side dangerous...) but just feel Ulster are on a roll and will put them to bed...

Was with everybody on Gloucester, but within 10 minutes you knew it was all over.....typical

Glasgow match already under threat for being postponed due to potential unsafe travel conditions for fans. If it goes ahead I could still see them doing a job over Lyon even in wet.

Nothing else really appeals for me today, weather just throwing up too many unknowns.

Ref if I remember is pedantic at best of times and in the wet with the French slowing it down, hoping they can keep it under this.

Nice call KT! I couldn’t watch but at 18-3 ht the -21.5 looked nailed on. Ah well not to be, weather caught me out and could have taken Lyon +23.5 today but stuck with Glasgow.

At 50/1 think they are worth an interest outright and will have a nibble.
