Super Rugby Week 5, Pro 14 and other Rugby was created by Brent Graham
The Friday betting mailer best bet was rolled with the Brumbies stunning the Chiefs but overall a good weekend for me with the French win in Wales the cherry on top.

Here are my handicap projections for week 5 of Super Rugby

Highlanders -13.5 v Rebels
Waratahs -6.5 v Lions
Hurricanes -33.5 v Sunwolves
Reds -0.5 v Sharks
Stormers -9.5 v Blues
Bulls -3.5 v Jaguares

Not seen what lines GG have put out but my early thoughts on main fancies -

Jaguares to win. Cannot see the Bulls keeping then out like Stormers did. Any jags plus would be my biggest bet of week.

Lions on plus. Tahs have been clueless so far, long season ahead.

Reds Sharks could be a tryfest, one I’ll be targeting Points overs when lines come out late in week.

Early bets down with WSB

Highlanders -10.5 vs Rebels. Think the Highlanders will finally come good. Can’t have money on the Rebels this year.

Waratahs 23/20 vs Lions - Waratahs desperate for a win coming off a bye. Lions don’t travel well.

Hurricanes -32 v Sunwolves - Hurricanes also coming off a bye. No excuse to rest players, think they will target 5 points and a good margin.

Reds 1/1 v Sharks - Reds finally came good and that backline will give the Sharks a decent run. End of tour plus potential Aussie ref may be too much.

Stormers -7.5 - Stormers due to string two good halves together. Blues lucky against a very an average Bulls team. The have their 1 win in SA, cant see them spending too much time away from Clifton!

Although most of our interests will be on the 7s this weekend, we like the look Edinburgh on the minus vs Cardiff!
Edinburgh will have 7/8 scottish players returning (only darcy graham misses out due to injury) to strengthen their already strong side. At home they've beaten this handicap 7/10 this season (very nearly 8/10!).

Cardiff haven't really had a tough away fixture yet. They have 6 welshmen that could potentially return (Josh Adams injured for the season in the 6 nations), hwoever there's been no comment from Wales Rugby as to whether they're all going to be released.

Bet: Edinburgh -11.5 @1.9 (Available at WSB at time of writing)

Really like that one southpaw.

I was very surprised at how big the highlanders are favs. I had the hcap within 3 points. Two poor enough teams. Highlanders messing around with their selection a bit. I've taken Rebels with the points and also had a nibble outright.

Yeh I reckon Landers being over-rated for this one. I'll take the speculative Rebels/Landers @ 6/1 and have also taken the visitors on the full time cap.

On the Lions game:
Just arrived in Parramatta for a walk around and lunch before the game. Its a beaut of a day here. Lions points my big play and a bit on the Saffas for the outright win as well. And of course I haven't been able to land a blonde local yet so instead will back Marnus the Blonde Pop to bring me some delight!

Highlanders were far worse than the 33-10 loss to the Crusaders. Another 10-15 points left on the field by Saders.
We now know that Brumbies saved their A game for the Chiefs, so not reading much into that win.
Landers have leaked 97 points in three games.

Rebels over 21.5 @ $1.83 looks like a safe bet.

Really wanted to go overs in the Dunedin game, but quotes are just that few points higher than what I hoped for so just Rebels +13.5 for me.

In the second game I like the over 51.5 total points as one of my stronger points fancies of the weekend.

Had an awful feeling after that missed penalty in front of the posts after about 25 mins....to make it 22-10....that all the points momentum had gone....very frustrating.

Taken Gloucester over 18.5 @ 17/20. Will be rain and wet but they have kept covers on until a couple hours ago so pitch should hold up.

Just don’t fancy Sale on their away form.

Having a look at the Hurricanes v Sunwolves. I got onto Hurricanes -32.5 early in the week.

Points and tries are more difficult. Total points 69.5 and tries 10.5. Those lines are incredibly high.

I’ve taken Hurricanes over 7.5 tries, no worries about conversions or Sunwolves contributions.

Love the unders in Brisbane and Cape Town. Brisbane should be humid and a lovely unders ref in Pickerill. Stormers defence very good and they offer very little on attack. Under 51.5 in Reds game and under 50.5 in Stormers game and also the double.

Over 45.5 @ 17/20 at newlands. Against the normal rule on hot coastal games but cut has just crept a bit low for me with peyper in charge.
