The Lions tour is over and although the preview pick of either team by 7 or less arrived I lost on the game with a late call to back the Lions at 16/10. It pulled me back square for the weekend so no harm done at least.

The Newsletter Best Bet over 56.5 in Griquas v Lions arrived comfortably - sign up here - bit.ly/bettingmail

A busy week ahead with 3 midweek Currie Cup games and 3 more on the weekend as well as Rugby Champs and NPC

Here are my Currie Cup Handicap Projections for Wednesday

Pumas +8.5 v Sharks
Bulls -16.5 v Griquas
Cheetahs -3.5 v Lions

Rugby Champs and the New Zealand cap is out and I will have a go at the Bok v Arg cap

NZL -21.5 v Australia
SA -17.5 v Argentina

There is also NPC and the caps are out

Couple of strong fancies on opening NPC lines:

Wellington -3.5 vs Waikato

Southland +14.5 vs Bay of Plenty

Auckland +3.5 vs Tasman

Manawatu +24.5 vs Canterbury

Currie Cup caps are out and to the right in brackets

Pumas +8.5 v Sharks (+7.5)
Bulls -16.5 v Griquas (-12.5)
Cheetahs -3.5 v Lions (-4.5)

4 point difference on the Bulls game - tempting

I went Boks -17.5 but after posting did think it might be too high with a number of players likely to be rested - it has opened -14.5

Week no 2 of My ‘nowhere to hide’ Bunnings NPC: (Week #1: 3.5 correct from 7 – 50%)

A rubbish start for my calls of 50% - things can only improve from reliance on last year's results.
A bit more data to work from, without consideration of individual players to the teams. Should become more accurate based on team performance. No ?
Maybe not – On reflection, I'm definitely not smarter than a roomful of bookie mathematicians and actuaries calculating handicaps, not even close. So I'm going to keep my amateurish projections to myself and avoid unnecessary further embarrassment

If I find a contribution that I can make, instead of adding to the clutter, I'll gladly make it.
But I'm not gonna waste your time with my rubbish predictions, so: Bokke Bokke, :woohoo: :woohoo:

I’m gonna enjoy singing-along to Nkosi Sikelele Africa a lot more now, because I can sing the ‘Incy Winsey Spider’ song instead of the first part.
Happy punting all.:beer :)

Enough for me that EW Viljoen is not playing...no clue why the Lions signed him.
Duncan Mathews already showed much more efficacy in attack last week.
Bench also looking better this week.
Can't see the Lions scoring less than 4 tries here.

Lions over 25.5 @1.88

Very fair market on the Griqua's first half score. I'll have me some of that.

Both preview picks arrive so a decent midweek so far - never saw the Lions game 44-44 - wow

Here are my handicap projections for the weekend

Lions +9.5 v Bulls
Sharks -12.5 v Cheetahs (watch team news or even whether game takes place due to Covid - I have assumed Sharks at full strength)
WP -7.5 v Pumas

nicely done lads, some good winners. Missed the rugby but managed to get home for some cricket betting to make up for missing out on lions and bulls points markets.

Onto this weekend -
Pumas name side today, should be a strong one. Will be taking Pumas best plus HT cap or Pumas 1st half points, think they may start the better of 2 sides and has been their pattern last 2 years. Keeping an eye on conditions - did see a points line of 54.5 but been removed since, that's possibly a bit too high for me.

Aus should keep it tight 1st half again, Pickerill the ref so brings unders into play, however he has mellowed a bit since start last year when he was a nailed on unders ref every time. NZ bench very poor last 20 min last week, expecting better final 20 min from them.
Unsure at this point but Aus plus 22 is big, named a good side.

Otago named depleted side for Ranfurly shield game v Hawkes Bay - Captain Lentjes out along with maybe their two best players, Nareki and Ioane

Also maybe a chance Weber plays for Hawkes Bay after missing ABs?

Climbed into Hawkes Bay outright at 1.51 at NZ TAB, can still get -5.5 too (already -8.5 at bet365)

Geez the Steelers made hard work of that + cap, thank-you Gatland for that missed kick to corner.

Good start to weekend, looking forward to main course tomorrow and find myself leaning against the grain a bit and like All Blacks to win well.

Boks v Arg -

Over 45.5 points @ 9/10

Pitch looks to be top condition,
Weather forecast cleared up,
Boks to start shifting style a bit from Lions series,
Argentina will score points today - well drilled side.

At just 4 points more than the 41.5 consistent line for Lions series, I make the 45.5 an overs punt.

Still can’t believe Boks thought they had to still get bonus point and Steyn did that drop. Gave back most of All Blacks profits, although still ahead on weekend.

Trying one double today -
Sharks -5
WP -7
