Currie Cup Final round, Bunnings NPC if it takes place 27-29 August

It was a good weekend for me with all 4 preview picks arriving including of course the newsletter Best Bet of the Sharks -9.5 (link at the bottom of this post)

This week we have the final round of Currie Cup action but sadly the Australia v New Zealand test is off and I am not sure if we will get NPC but suspect not

Here are my Currie Cup Handicap projections and some early thoughts

Griquas -4.5 v Pumas - this should be a great game, Griquas have to win and the Pumas could still progress with a loss if WP lose to the Sharks - this will be played like a final

Bulls -15.5 v Cheetahs - the Bulls need 2 log points to ensure top spot and for this reason and the fact that they are rested they should feel a full strength team. The Cheetahs are still in with an unlikely shot at the semi's if they win with a bonus, the Pumas beat the Griquas and WP don't get a bonus against the Sharks UPDATE - it was pointed out to me that the Cheetahs are 6 points behind 4th spot and cannot qualify - I was reading WP as 4th for some reason - if anything I would push handicap out further to closer to 20 points although a bit worried Bulls will step off the gas when the job is done

Sharks -9.5 v WP - this cap may change a lot from where it opens. If the Sharks cannot top the log they may make some late changes. WP know that if they win they are in the last 4

Opening lines very close to mine

Griquas -4.5 v Pumas (-4.5)
Bulls -15.5 v Cheetahs (-15.5)
Sharks -9.5 v WP (-11.5)

I expect WP to shorten as this is as Oracle likes to say "half a dead rubber"

Great news although wish we had some international rugby this weekend

The Handicap going to be shorter than usual tonight

Points are out on Griqus v Pumas now but at 58.5 a bit lower than I hoped and going to mull over it

After all the build up points lines were lower than I hoped so going for a smaller play Griquas win and under 59.5 points
