URC, NPC, Gallagher Prem, Toyota Challenge + other rugby 30 Sep - 2 Oct

Last week I was moaning about just missing my Best Bet and the Newsletter Acca by small margins but this week I got the rub of the green and then some

Although the preview pick of over 50.5 points arrived in the All Black game (after the hooter) I got involved on the ABs -30.5 and over 44.5 points in running and actually took quite a knock on the game (also factoring in my SA outright play)

I flew into overs in the Stormers game (Best Bet) and also took a double with Bulls overs - the Stormers bet arrived after the hooter and the Bulls overs thanks to a 79th minute Steyn penalty - man that guy can kick under pressure

I then backed the Boks over 4.5 tries and with 5 minutes to go I still needed 2 more tries. They arrived and it was yet another after the hooter win

That night overs landed in the Lions game and the 19/2 newsletter ACCA landed - I only realised when I logged on this morning and got the good news.

There is no international rugby this weekend but we have the NPC, Gallagher, URC and also the start of the Toyota Challenge

I will have a go at the URC handicaps for the weekend - I have usually only capped the SA games so may have some teething issues on the other games

Bulls -15.5 v Connacht
Ulster +6.5 v Leinster
Cardiff -6.5 v Lions
Stormers -8.5 v Edinburgh
Ospreys v Glasgow - no idea
Munster -16.5 v Zebre
Benetton -3.5 v Scarlets
Dragons +10.5 v Sharks

Don’t miss our live rugby betting show THE HANDICAP “Rugby chat that matters” on Thursday night 21h00 SA time – Here is the link to view the Goodforthegame You Tube Channel www.youtube.com/c/GoodforthegameTV/videos

I think the Friday show for the Gallagher Prem worked well and we may try it again this week.

NPC lines (via TAB NZ):

Bay of plenty -14.5 v Northland (Wednesday)
Hawkes bay -3.5 v Tasman
Southland +19.5 v North Harbour
Auckland-13.5 v Taranaki
Otago +13.5 v Canterbury
Counties +9.5 v Wellington

Will take Otago on the plus and Otago on the board as soon as it’s available in South Africa. Can see Canterbury rotating heavily to rest players while Otago may need the win and possibly the bonus point depending on the games on Wednesday and Friday.

Does anyone know if the AB players will be available to play for their clubs over the next couple of weeks before the AB Northern Tour player announcement is made ?

some early fancies in NH -

Bristol -7 at Newcastle. Bristol letting in a lot of tries but Newcastle were soundly beaten on weekend. Surface should suit Bristol attacking style.

Sharks -6 at Dragons. Nearly blew it in Italy but in parts very impressive for 1st match of season. Dragons improving, but think Sharks forwards will dominate. Not sure if any of the Bok Sharks will make it, suspect not.

Stormers -9 vs Edinburgh. Sounds like some of the Boks might feature, but still up in the air. If they do, the -9 will look good.

Interesting. I wouldn't mind some money for the Stormers to get on a bigger plus for Edinburgh. Even if the Stormers had all their Boks I would fancy the +9.5. The way these two teams play there might be some points aswell in this game. 14:00 kick off with perfect conditions predicted for Greenpoint.

Also like Benetton -2.5 a lot. They should go much better at home than at Leinster.

And Zebre +33.5 against a Munster side still recovering from Johann van Graan looks way too big.

yes would agree re overs, in fact my weekend will be dominated by overs plays bar a few early cap interests. I even ended up trading out some caps last week to put more focus onto overs, which worked well.

My first go at handicapping the URC games - 5 close, 1 medium difference Sharks, 1 larger Leinster and 1 massive Munster - Sunbet caps in brackets

Bulls -15.5 (-17.5) v Connacht
Ulster +6.5 (-1.5) v Leinster
Cardiff -6.5 (-6.5) v Lions
Stormers -8.5 (-10.5) v Edinburgh
Ospreys v (-3.5) Glasgow - no idea
Munster -16.5 (-31.5) v Zebre
Benetton -3.5 (-3.5) v Scarlets
Dragons +10.5 (+6.5) v Sharks

Taking a small treble at 5/1 Leinster +1.5, Zebre +31.5 Sharks -6.5

Going big on Emerging Ireland vs Griquas at 2.60

Griquas have lost arguably their two best players in Zander Du Plessis and Sango Xamlashe. Emerging Ireland's backline could consist of Baloucoune and Daly two outside backs who have both been capped by the senior team. I really like Ciaran Frawley, he has impressed me each time I've seen him play and I really don't see how these two sides aren't much closer in terms of odds.

Even in a hurricane, the kiwi teams still can’t bloody tackle.

Heavily invested in unders and it’s 17-10 at the break. They could be playing in an apocalyptic volcanic storm and the overs would still hit.

Why do we go with unders chaps? Why.?

There's a Boylesports outlet a 5min walk from me. I was planning on taking up the +26pts on Griquas- available up to 8am this morning. The bloody shop doesn't open until 10am. Handicap has reeled into +21pts after 8am and in further to +15pts just now.

The jinxing worked again ;) :P :cheer:

I forgot who is the forum member who likes to say something along the lines "I love a sluggish game, a mud bath, knock-ons and ball spillages, when I have an unders bet"?

This is exactly what this match was and I felt it that way, especially with Tasman butchering so many chances. :cheer:

Thoughts on bulls v Connacht over 58.5

Weather looks good, attacking bulls line up and hope Connacht score a few and then crumble in the last 25mins

Thoughts on that? As currently heavily invested.

Lol.

Obviously hindsight is 20/20 but I still don't know how Emerging Ireland were priced at over 2.60. This Emerging Ireland has a similar coaching setup and squad to the one that went to New Zealand and beat the Maori All Blacks. No disrespect to the Griquas but the Currie cup is a level below, especially when you consider they haven't had any serious competitive action in two months.
