Varsity Cup Week 1 was created by Brent Graham

Varsity Cup starts on Monday and while I have not looked around at other bookies I see WSB have priced up

Maties 15/10
Tuks 18/10
Shimlas 9/2
Ikeys 11/2
Eagles 10/1
UJ 25/1
Wits 40/1
CUT 66/1

Week 1 Handicaps
Tuks -6.5 v Shimlas
Maties -7.5 v Ikeys
NWU -4.5 v UJ
CUT +6.5 v Wits

I reckon the bookies like most of us are going in blind so any information would be invaluable

Never know what you get from season to season in this competition but that's never stopped me from spending a few beers.

OUTRIGHT
Shimlas made the semi's in three of the last five comps and last year they beat both finalists, Tuks and Maties in the round robin. A little consistency and we could have one side in the final at reasonable odds.

Under 59.5 in Tuks v Shimlas for me @Sunbet - I am about 60km away in Joburg and been a big storm - reckon conditions underfoot may not be great

I know stats mean nothing in this comp but in the first ten matches last year the second half was the highest scoring in six of them including both TUKS and Shimlas matches. Odds should be 17/20 choice

TUKS v Shimlas
A few beers
Highest scoring half 2nd @ evens

Ikeys beat Maties in the round robin last year but Maties buried them by 39 points in the semi in Cape Town
