Seven stages with three mountain finishes and a good indication for Giro contenders.
Stage 1
Same as last year when Matthews won. A very difficult uphill drag which is why Roglic is 3rd in the betting.
e/w
Impey @ 66/1
Outrights
With Roglic and Evenepoel floating around at 14/10 - 16/10 no value for me. I do like having an interest though so a beer on the third spot
1-3
Carapaz @ 4/1

Finish on a climb of 15km with average gradient just under 7%. Steepest parts in middle. Just another Roglic/Evenepoel show both at very short odds.
Match bet double for me
Van Wilder/Kuss into
Martin/Woods
@ 31/10
and
Ciccone/Almeida into
O"Connor/Haig
@ 18/10

180km Today with an HC climb in the middle. Finish is mountain top. Stage can be won from break or like last year O"Connor broke away on final climb and was not chased as leaders watched each other.
Win
Soler @ 22/1
Poels @ 50/1
Hirt @ 150/1
Brugge - De Panne
211km Flat race packed with all the top sprinters. Many reports of strong winds so maybe get a few classics riders break away and spoil the party. Has happened before in this race

188km Today with a pretty easy Cat 1 right out the hut. A decent beak could form and may hang on. Taking e/w on Schelling as he may run in the break but has enough speed to contest a bunch finish so two bites at the cherry.

Give it a bash Hanrick. Makes rugby betting look like a walk in the park

Volta Catalunya Stage 5
Finish up a proper climb today 8km at almost 9%. Would take Evenepoel if he was around evens but the 7/10 just feels wrong.
Match bet double
Almeida/Landa - Woods/Chavez @ 18/10
E3 Saxo Classic
204km Of classic lumpy bumpy with hideously steep little cobbled climbs. Beautiful to watch. A few beers

Volta Catalunya Stage 6
Could be a day for the break as Soudal Quick-Step not likely to chase. We have 5km at over 6% topping out 27km before the end so that should take out the few pure sprinters. A few beers

Schelling @ 18/1

Volta Catalunya Stage 7
Final stage today. Cat 2 climb out the gate but just cannot see Remco's outfit allowing a break to go early and win. Possible late move may succeed should he and Roglic do the cat and mouse bit.
Win
Evenepoel @ 3/1
Soler @ 14/1
Match bet
Evenepoel/Roglic @ 5/4 Just think that even racing for 20th Remco will want to finish ahead
Match bet treble
Evenepool/Roglic - Soler/Chavez - Almeida/Ciccone
@ 13/2
Gent - Wevelgem
260km of wind and rain over cobbled climbs. Not my idea of earning a living but great to watch. Not sure the Jumbo youngster makes the finish but he will get an easy ride to the end. If he is there he has an excellent shot. Mohoric has no sprint but wind/rain/distance are his friends so the 10/1 podium carries 75% of the race stake.
Win
Kooij @ 16/1
e/w
Mohoric @ 40/1

This should be a great stage to watch and I am going to leave the stage and will go with Remco to grab the jersey at 7/2
Shoving 5 units on to ensure a profit on the week if he arrives

Was annoyed and tossed a couple of units on LaPorte in Gent at 14/1
He and Wout break clear with 50km to go and the teammates build an unassailable lead - now the question was would they race, would Wout as leader take the stage or would Wout see this as an opportunity to reward his worker - fortunately it was the latter but what torture that was
