It ended up being a great weekend for me thanks to what I can only describe as a "Punting Miracle"

My biggest bet of the weekend was on Quins over 23.5 and heading into the final 5 minutes they trailed 32-7 - they somehow delivered 3 tries to land the bet and I then fired into tries overs in the Lions game to cap a great day.

The Newsletter Best Bet* Force +21.5 arrived although I was disappointed to fall just short of Toulouse overs against the Bulls

Plenty of rugby this weekend although less games than last week

Heineken Cup quarters and here are my projections with opening caps in brackets to the right (based on home team)

Leinster -13.5 v Leicester (-18.5)
Toulouse -7.5 v Sharks (-11.5)
Exeter -1.5 v Stormers (+1.5)
La Rochelle -7.5 v Saracens (-7.5)

Super Rugby handicap projections - just 4 matches this weekend

Crusaders -25.5 v Moana
Reds +6.5 v Brumbies
Highlanders +9.5 v Hurricanes
Rebels +11. v Blues

Here are the Currie Cup fixtures - returning players from Bulls and Cheetahs will have an impact if selected so I am not even going to attempt those

Bulls v Griquas - Griquas favs unless Bulls get players back
Sharks +10.5 v Pumas
WP -21.5 v Griffons
Lions v Cheetahs - Lions favs if Cheetahs dont get players back, if Cheetahs are full strength they should be double digit favs

I am down in George on my final school rugby tour so will be a bit quiet this week

SB cap comparison with mine - home team handicap quoted

Crusaders -25.5 v Moana (-29.5)
Reds +6.5 v Brumbies (+4.5)
Highlanders +9.5 v Hurricanes (+8.5)
Rebels +11.5 v Blues (+15.5)

Two 4 pointers but suspect I was slightly out and not the bookies so not going to pull the trigger

Richie plays his 100th this weekend and the line is already -30.5 against Moana -

HT at -14.5 looks very tempting

Currie Cup handicaps are out - the caps in brackets

Bulls v Griquas (+1.5) - I didn't even try cap this one
Sharks +10.5 v Pumas (+14.5)
WP -21.5 v Griffons (-15.5)

Lions v Cheetahs - (+14.5) so looks like Cheetahs players will be back

big differences in both games I capped but more a sign of how tough these are to cap than a signal to fire I reckon

I go early with Toulon+Benetton @2.10 2u

Toulon 20 wins in last 22 home games and focused. Niniashvili and Tuisova out for Lyon, two big blows. Benetton pretty strong at home this season, I don't think Cardiff can repeat an upset after last week win.

Tigers +15.5 seems far too much on a cloudy and cold night in Dublin

Will run them close I think and can match them physically. Half tempted for a small punt at 6/1 for Tigers on the board as conditions will suit also!

As we all know how we hate Bulls performances here I took Bulls -3.5 @1.90 3u

Strong compo and a big reaction needed, so line is low.

I know the risk but there is value for me in this line.

Reds vs Brumbies should be a low scoring slog (Hanrick's favourite). Very strong Brumbies team (excellent forward pack + dynamic backline), and much stronger than last two weeks. They were sloppy last week, however I put it down to Tahs overperforming and finally playing with gusto. I like the Reds changes and expect a nuggety shift at Suncorp, even though they've been unconvincing this year. Brumbies history at suncorp has put me off a Brumbies 1-12/1-14 play.

Found tribet either team by 9 or less which I really like at just under evens - combining it with Saders to win by 10+ to lift the odds. Reds can win this by a penalty or less, and don't see the Brumbies winning larger than a 30-23 type scoreline.

Not entirely convinced by the Crusaders lineup but Goodhue back is positive, I capped it at -22.5 but that may have been wrong on my end. I don't like the -29.5, Crusaders could beat it but it's a 50/50 call - no value for me. Nothing from Moana in the last few weeks to draw my money either. Combining Crusaders to score 41+ and a Hurricanes win in a multi at evens.

I like the Hurricanes team a lot, besides Ardie it's also a strong pack and bench - and a fire backline. Highlanders have key ins however no Smith ruins their rhythm of the last few weeks. Canes should win comfortably. Have them in a multiple above. Waiting on points to be released in Aus at 33.5. I'm liking the Hurricanes overs 33.5 more than the -7/8. Hurricanes should score 40, their defence could leak between 25-35 hence not confident on the cap. Total overs an option but risk of Landers not contributing much scares me off.

Melbourne weather is average but it could clear up by tomorrow night. Smaller units than on the other 3 games from me here. Game time decision between Blues 1-21 or Blues over 33.5 depending on whether. Rebels have shown fight this year, but Blues should win this comfortably on the road.

Wow what a performance by Leinster , I of course took Leicester in running plus 24.5 and left with a bloodied nose.

All over Toulouse on the minus 11.5 tomorrow.

On unders at Exeter at 52.5 and plus Exeter 4.5 for bigger .

Lyon plus 9.5 against Toulon .

And Highlanders on the best plus , I got plus 8.5 at 4/5 , one of my best of the weekend .

Play Well

Curious to know if multiple books had the same low lines, how would they justify voiding them?
