Poor old Australia have drifted from 9/2 out to 7/1 without even collapsing a scrum in this years Tri Nations while the Bulls retain favouritism ahead of a fast shortening WP in the Currie Cup.
Tri Nations Update
The Eden Park test was always going to be a pivotal one and while the All Blacks started narrow favourites at -3.5 there would have been very punters expecting such a convincing win over the current World Champions.
The nature of the victory and in particular the 4 try bonus point has seen the All Blacks installed as clear favourites to capture the Tri Nations crown a year before they host rugby’s show piece the World Cup.
The AB’s are 11/20 at Betxchange and Mbet with the Boks still 2nd favourites at 5/2 with Mbet and Australia who have yet to play a match drifting from 9/2 pre tournament to the current quote of 7/1 with Betxchange.
The All Blacks do have to play 2 matches in Australia but clearly bookmakers believe that the best chance the Wallabies had was the Boks getting something in New Zealand thus blowing the tournament open.
We will post our Match 2 preview on Thursday and early indications are that the All Blacks will start at around -7.5 point favourites.
Currie Cup Update
The Bulls overcame a stubborn Puma’s side to win by 23 points on Friday night and while they may not have beaten the handicap they did enough to convince the layers they are still the team to beat even without 11 Boks.
There is a standout 1.82/1 available with World of Sport and that is slightly out from what they were trading at a week ago and they are generally 15/10 elsewhere.
Western Province absorbed early Free State pressure before hitting back to win in Bloemfontein and the 3/1 on offer last week has gone with the 28/10 at Betxchange comfortably the best around.
The Sharks are stable at 4/1 with Betxchange and World Sports Betting despite a loss in Kimberley while the Cheetahs have made another slow start and are out to 8.34/1 with World of Sport from a 7/1 opening call.
The Lions comfortably beat the 15 point start the bookmakers were giving the Leopards and they are now 12/1 at Betxchange and World Sports Betting in significantly from 20/1 prior to kickoff.
Griquas can still be backed at 66/1 at Betxchange (in from 150/1) and the Pumas are 750/1 at World of Sport while the Leopards are 1000/1 with Betxchange and World of Sport.
