Paarl Royals

Paarl Royals were one of the first sides to secure a play off spot and at one stage they looked on course for a top 2 finish but they lost each of their last 4 matches (double headers with the Sunrisers and the Super Giants) and they finished third in the standings with 5 wins and 5 defeats.

The final match of the regular season saw the Royals go down by 5 wickets away to the Sunrisers. In their favour they did win both of their round robin matches against Joburg Super Kings, by 7 wickets in Paarl and by 5 wickets in Joburg.

This is how Paarl Royals lined up last time out

Jos Buttler (wk), Jason Roy, Wihan Lubbe, Mitchell Van Buuren, David Miller (c), Dane Vilas, Andile Phehlukwayo, Bjorn Fortuin, Codi Yusuf, Nqaba Peter, John Turner

Did not play: Evan Jones, Lungi Ngidi, Obed McCoy, Tabraiz Shamsi, Fabian Allen, Ferisco Adams, Lorcan Tucker, Keith Dudgeon

Joburg Super Kings

The Super Kings secured the last of the play off places with a 7 wicket win over the Durban Super Giants at this venue on Saturday. Opening pair Faf du Plessis and Leus du Plooy both scored 57 and Wayne Madsen was unbeaten on 44 as JSK chased down the 204 needed for victory with a ball to spare.

That was just a third win for JSK alongside 5 defeats and 2 no results but they finished in fourth spot, 3 points clear of the Capitals and 4 better off than MI Cape Town who have both missed the cut.

This was how the Super Kings lined up last time out.

Leus du Plooy, Faf du Plessis (c), Reeza Hendricks, Wayne Madsen, Moeen Ali, Donovan Ferreira (wk), Doug Bracewell, Dayyaan Galiem, Lizaad Williams, Nandre Burger, Imran Tahir

Did not play: Kyle Simmonds, David Wiese, Aaron Phangiso, Sibonelo Makhanya, Zahir Khan, Gerald Coetzee, Romario Shepherd, Sam Cook, Ronan Hermann

The Verdict

The winner of this game will contest the second qualifier on Thursday. JSK have home advantage and Paarl Royals are on a losing streak but my focus is on the Most Sixes market and I will side with the likes of Buttler and Miller to get the Royals up.

Bets: Most Sixes Paarl Royals at 21/20 with BetXchange
