Stormers:

The Stormers finished ass runners up to Leinster in their pool with a record of 3 wins and 1 defeat. They hosted Saturday's opponents, defending champions Stade Rochelle in Round 2 and the Stormers edged it 21-20 thanks to a last gasp converted try.

Other results saw the Stormers go down 35-26 away to Leicester Tigers in the opening round and in Round 3 they were 31-24 winners at home to Sale Sharks. The Stormers final pool game delivered a 24-20 win away to Stade Francais.

In the URC the Stormers boast a 100% record at home and after a 13-7 win over Ulster last week they have climbed to fifth in the standings with 8 wins and 5 defeats against their name.

In the outright betting to win the Champions Cup the Stormers are priced at 32/1 with BoyleSports

La Rochelle:

La Rochelle left it late to seal their last 16 place, finishing third in the same pool as the Stormers with 2 wins and 2 defeats.

They hosted Leinster in the opening round and they finished on the losing side, going down 16-9 to the team they had beaten in the previous 2 finals. The narrow defeat to the Stormers in Cape Town left them with work to do but they dished out a 45-12 hiding to Leicester Tigers in a home fixture and followed up with a 37-24 victory away to Sale Sharks.

In the Top 14 La Rochelle are in fifth position in the standings with a record of 10 wins and 10 defeats.

Betting Angle

Thursday night’s THE HANDICAP our Rugby Betting Show was interesting as both panellists, The Mossman and The Oracle fancied the Stormers. The live chat though was full of punters looking to get on La Rochelle and I am siding firmly with the French side in this game. They were narrowly beaten in the group stages in Cape Town, but their pedigree in this Tournament is excellent and they are looking for their 3rd successive title. This should be a cracking match, but I don’t see the Stormers standing in their way.

BET: 6 Units, La Rochelle win at 8/10 at WSB
