Race 7: CLIFF TOP (8)

Magic Tips Best Bet

Race 3: PHOENIX (9)
Jockey: R Fourie – Trainer: A Greeff

PHOENIX finished 2.35 lengths behind AND WE DANCED last time. She is 5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She has finished second in her only attempt over this C&D. She does have a wide draw of eleven to overcome, but is likely to be switched off near the rear of the field and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

Race 4: BLONDE ACT (3)
Jockey: R Fourie – Trainer: A Greeff

BLONDE ACT ran a good race when finishing second in his local debut over 1200m on the turf. He was slow into stride, but the manner in which he finished off his race was encouraging. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He would have come on from the run and will love the rise to the mile. If suited to this surface, he should go one better.

Race 5: SANTA THERESE (6)
Jockey: R Fourie – Trainer: A Greeff

SANTA THERESE got going too late when finishing second in her last start over 1600m on the turf. It must be noted that And We Danced has come out and won again since. She has won twice and finished second once from as many starts on this course. The 5yo mare should have no issues with the rise to 2200m and she should give the males a run for their money.

Top Bet For Today

Race 6: LEDELL’S ECHO (3)
Jockey: S Khumalo – Trainer: G Smith

LEDELL’S ECHO is the best bet on the programme. He showed good speed in his last start over this C&D, but was outrun late by Tipsy Tina. It is encouraging that S’manga Khumalo steps back into the saddle and from his midfield draw of seven, he should be hard to peg back.

Value Bet For Today

Race 1: KIND OF BLUE (4)
Jockey: M Mjoka – Trainer: G Smith

KIND OF BLUE is a filly taking on the males. She ran a decent race when third over 1300m on this course, two weeks ago. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. Her best career effort has come over this C&D. She tries the blinkers for the first time which should keep her mind on the task at hand. Mpumelelo Mjoka retains the ride and she is capable of shedding her maiden tag in this line-up.
