RACE 1

FIRE GLOW produced an encouraging debut effort over 800m on this course. She was slow into stride, but stayed on at the business end. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Fire Away would have gained from the experience and will love the extra 400m on offer. With the natural improvement that is expected, she may be the one to side with in this line-up.

AMAZING COLOURS ran a fair race on debut over 1000m on this course. The daughter of Heavenly Blue will love the extra furlong on offer. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

BACK FOR MORE is an unraced daughter of Global View from the Alan Greeff yard with stable jockey Richard Fourie in the saddle. If not too green, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her and the other unraced entrants.

RACE 2

YAYA MARIA has good recent form lines to her credit. She showed good speed over 1000m last time, but was outrun late by Pomodoro Magic. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The 1200m should be right up her alley and jockey Luyolo Mxothwa may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

MAGENTA should have finished closer to the winner last time as she hung outwards in the final 300m. If not too far out of her ground at the halfway mark, she should pose a massive threat.

KILMONIVAIG finished 3 lengths behind the second choice last time. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. The daughter of William Longsword is having her peak run today and she will be cherry-ripe.

RACE 3

POMODORO MAGIC caught the eye when shedding her maiden tag at just the second time of asking. Despite racing green and ducking at the 100m mark, she still managed to notch up the victory. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Pomodoro takes a rise in class, but she has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand.

BUTTERCUP finished 1.5 lengths behind ANGEL DEB’S last time. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. If keeping on a straight line, she can return to winning ways.

FOR ALL WE KNOW finished 2 lengths behind ANGEL DEB’S in the race referred to above. She is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and should also turn the form around.

RACE 4

BONNAROO is having her first run for the Alan Greeff stable. Her last three starts on the Highveld have been fair. The daughter of Rafeef takes a drop in class and her only victory has come under Richard Fourie. If jumping on terms, she may start her Eastern Cape stint on a winning note.

I LIKE IT HOT showed some signs of needing her local debut over this C&D. She would have come on from the run and will strip much fitter. The daughter of What A Winter takes a drop in class and may be hard to peg back.

GREAT MELODY may be the first male past the winning post. He stayed on nicely when third over this C&D last time. If repeating that effort in this type of field, he should have a say.

RACE 5

MODERN MAGICIAN ran a fair race when fifth over this C&D last time. He raced from just off the pace and stayed on at the finish. The son of Willow Magic takes a slight drop in class and despite his big mass of 61kgs, he is capable of returning to winning ways.

BETHEL finished 1.25 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.

ARVERNI WARRIOR was running on when fourth over this C&D last time. The tongue-tie seems to have done the trick on the son of Vercingetorix. He finished 1.25 lengths behind the second choice in his penultimate run. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line.

RACE 6

CRUISE CONTROL took on much stronger in the Grade 1 Pongracz Cape Flying Championship last time. The son of Querari is unbeaten from two starts over this C&D. Rachel Venniker takes the 1.5kgs off his back and he should notch up his sixth career victory.

CLIFF TOP was ultra-impressive in his last two victories. He has won twice and finished third once from as many starts over this distance. The son of Canford Cliffs finished 3.15 lengths behind the top choice, four runs ago. He is 5kgs worse off at the weights and may battle to turn the tables.

STRANGER DANGER is the stable companion of the top selection. He has won four times, finished second three times and third once from ten starts over this C&D. He returns from a 25-week break and if not in need of the run, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

RACE 7

EKORIA has very good consistent form lines to her credit. She raced from a handy position over 1400m last time, but found one too good in the form of Carbonado. The form of that race has worked out well. The daughter of Futura would have come on from the run and will strip a much fitter horse. She tries the mile and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she should return to winning ways.

EASY LIVING finished 1.7 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 2kgs worse off at the weights and may battle to turn the form around. With a bit of luck in running, she may be the one to fill the exacta spot.

DOUBLE DESTINY was an easy winner of her last start over this C&D. She finished 0.25 lengths behind the top choice in her penultimate run. She is 4kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.

RACE 8

PERFECTION is lightly raced with good form lines to his credit. He lost a length leaving the start over 1400m last time, but stayed on to finish second. It must be noted that Khaya’s Hope has come out and won again since. The son of Ideal World has plenty of scope and if jumping on terms, he can notch up his third career victory.

MHLABENI’S last start must be ignored as the jockey was dislodged at the 900m mark. The blinkers have been removed and on his previous form, he is one of the leading contenders. SECRET IS OURS won a good race in his last start over 1600m on this course. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He meets a similar line-up this afternoon and merits healthy respect.

RACE 9

TRAVEL MASTER set the pace in his last start over this C&D, fought hard but found one too good in the form of FLINDERS RANGE. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights for a half-length beating and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line.

FLINDERS RANGE has decent consistent form lines to his credit. He has won once, finished second three times and third once from seven starts over this distance. He has cracked a good draw of three and must be included in all bets.

EQUESTRIAN AFFAIR fought hard when shedding his maiden tag over 1600m on this course. The son of Rafeef takes on stronger, but he has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand
