Race 1

LUCY ENGLISH won a very good race in her last start over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. The manner in which she quickened up and finished off her race was eye-catching. She has won three times, finished second twice and third once from as many starts over this trip. Raymond Danielson retains the ride and the combination can follow up.

SHELDON finished 2.2 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. He has won once, finished second twice and third once from as many starts over this C&D. The son of Querari merits healthy respect.

VEGAS HI RISE is better than his last start over 1160m on this course. He won a good race in his penultimate start over 1200m on the Vaal Classic course. If finding the form of that outing, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 2

Six of the nine runners in this contest are first-timers and the betting market will be the best guide with regards to their chances. LUCKY LAD is a son of Gimmethegreenlight from the Sean Tarry stable with Richard Fourie in the saddle. He is related to multiple winners Imperial Rage and Follow Me. If not too green, he should start his career on a positive note.

BUTTERNUTENROOIWYN hails from the Robyn Klaasen yard and she is a daughter of Fire Away. She is related to three-time winner Heavens Girl. Keagan de Melo does duty which is encouraging.

SANDRINGHAM SUMMIT is a son of Gimmethegreenlight from the David Nieuwenhuizen stable with Gavin Lerena booked to ride. He is related to six-time winner Eden Roc. If not in need of the run, he should give a good account of himself.

Race 3

WOMEN OF FAME is the best bet on the card. Her debut effort over 1000m on the Vaal Classic course was eye-catching. She challenged strongly, but was touched off by Ice Star. The daughter of What A Winter found betting support that day which suggests that she was showing good work at home. She looks to have ability and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should take a power of beating.

MISS SHAIVI took time to find her feet on debut, but the manner in which she finished off her race was encouraging. The daughter of What A Winter would have gained from the experience and should love the extra 160m on offer. With the natural progression that is expected, she should be competitive.

DIVINE MOONLIGHT has produced two fair efforts to date. The daughter of Querari tries the 1160m and with Piere Strydom in the saddle, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 4

POURSOMESUGARONME showed good speed in her last start against male company, but found one too good in the form of Aussenkehr. The blinkers seem to have done the trick on the daughter of Captain Of All. She is back against her own sex and can get it right today.

LOOK TO THE STARS showed very good improvement in her last start over this C&D. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. She will strip a much fitter horse today and is one of the leading contenders.

ROCKINGTHETIMEAWAY stayed on when fifth over 1000m on the Inside course last time. Her penultimate run over this C&D was eye-catching. Gavin Lerena takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

Race 5

WILLIAM ROBERTSON was given a peach of a ride when winning his last start over 1160m on this course. The son of Rafeef is unbeaten from three starts over this C&D. If this race has not come too soon, he may be hard to beat from barrier three.

PUERTO MANZANO followed up his Grade 1 Betway Summer Cup victory with a good win in the Grade 3 London News Stakes. This is a prep run for bigger races to come, but he has class and has the ability to notch up the hat-trick.

RED SAXON finished 2.3 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights and may battle to turn the tables. He finished second in his only attempt over this C&D. The son of Red Ray merits healthy respect.

Race 6

FEATHER BOA ran on strongly when second in the first leg of the Wilgerbosdrift Triple Tiara. The manner in which she finished off her race that day suggests that she will be at home over the extra furlong on offer. The daughter of Flower Alley has cracked a good draw of four and she should go one better.

RENY should have finished closer to the winner in the race referred to above as she hung outwards in the closing stages. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight will love the step up to 1800m and if keeping on a straight line, she should throw out a big challenge.

LADY OF POWER was given a perfect ride when going from gun to tape in the Grade 2 Wilgerbosdrift Gauteng Fillies Guineas. The daughter of Master Of My Fate has changed stables since the victory. She is likely to adopt the same tactics from the widest draw and may be hard to peg back.

Race 7

BILLY BOWLEGS is a winner of his last two starts over this distance, the latest of which was in the Grade 3 Sea Cottage Stakes on this course. He beat EYE OF THE PROPHET by 0.15 lengths in his penultimate victory and is 3kgs better off at the weights today. He does have a wide draw to contend with, but he is likely to be switched off near the rear of the field and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

ROYAL VICTORY has top consistent form lines to his credit. He should have won the first leg of the WSB Triple Crown as he shifted away from the crop in the closing stages. The manner in which he finishes off his races suggests that he will love the extra furlong on offer. If keeping on a straight line, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

EYE OF THE PROPHET won a game race in the Grade 2 WSB Gauteng Guineas. He steps back up to the 1800m and merits healthy respect.

Race 8

LITIGATION fought hard for his last victory over this C&D. He is unbeaten from two starts over this C&D. The son of Greys Inn meets a similar line-up this afternoon and if this run has not come too soon, he can notch up his seventh career victory.

PYROMANIAC is the stable companion of the top choice. He took the lead at the 150m mark last time, but was touched off by Savannah Storm. He does have a wide draw to overcome, but gets the services of Richard Fourie who will give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

FLASHY APACHE finished 2 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is only 0.5kgs better off at the weights today which is not enough for the tables to be turned.

Race 9

BACK IN BUSINESS was given a peach of a ride when winning on debut over this C&D. He lost a length at the start, but ran on powerfully and got up where it matters most. The son of William Longsword found plenty of betting support that day which suggests that he was showing good work at home. He could be anything and if jumping on terms, he can remain unbeaten.

SPIELBERG has fair recent form lines to his name. He takes a slight drop in class and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

ANGEL OF WAR showed good speed over this C&D last time, fought hard but was touched off. Rachel Venniker takes the 1.5kgs off his back once again and the pair merit healthy respect.

Race 10

MO THE MAN ran on from last when third over 1400m on this course last time. The son of Royal Mo is a progressive type and will love the step up to the mile. He jumps from a good draw of two and may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

JET DYNASTY has improved in his last two starts, the latest of which was over this distance on the Inside course. Richard Fourie takes the ride from a good draw of four and he is one of the leading contenders.

GODFATHER stayed on when third over 1450m on the Vaal Classic course last time. The son of Coup De Grace will love the rise to 1600m. If not in need of the run, he should be competitive
