Race 1

IRISH LUCK finished 0.3 lengths behind HELSINKI last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. The blinkers seem to have done the trick on the son of Elusive Fort. He should enjoy the rise to 1400m and with luck in running, he can shed his maiden tag.

HELSINKI’S last start can be ignored as he raced wide around the turn and was reported to be not striding out post race. His penultimate run when second over 1200m on this course was encouraging. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

CABERNEIGH finished 0.8 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 2kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around. He will enjoy the rise to 1400m and should be at peak fitness. G

Race 2

GRIFFIN PARK followed up his maiden victory with a creditable second-place finish over this C&D. He showed good speed that day but found one too good in the form of Trafalgar Square. The son of Querari has plenty of scope and from pole position, he may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.

PURPLE POWAHOUSE has decent recent form lines to his credit. He stayed on strongly when second over 1200m on this course last time. The 7-year-old gelding is likely to be switched off near the rear of the field over this distance and he will be mowing down the frontrunners.

POPPY OF BAYEUX was caught late when second over 1200m on this course last time. It must be noted that Star Choice has come out and won again since. She would have come on from the outing and should give the males a run for their money.

Race 3

PIETER BOTH showed good improvement in his last start over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He raced from a handy position, moved up but was caught late. He will love the rise to 1800m and should be at peak fitness. From pole position, he can shed his maiden tag.

ISORENDER ran a good race when third in his last start over 1600m on this course. The manner in which he finished off his race that day suggests that he will be suited to the extra furlong on offer. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces. POWER STAR finished 1.6 lengths behind

THE GREEN GALLANT last time. He is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The son of Pomodoro will be staying on at the business end.

Race 4

CAPETOWN BEAUTY is better than her last two starts in feature races. It must be noted that Bella Siccome has come out and won again since. She has won three times, finished second twice and third twice from nine starts on this course. She takes a drop-in class and from her handy draw of four, she may be the one to cause the upset.

PETIT VERDOT stayed on when fourth over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. Her last victory came under Richard Fourie and she is one of the leading contenders.

ICE SUNSATION rallied late when second over 1500m last time. She has won once, finished second twice and third once from nine starts on this course. She is having her peak run today and merits healthy respect.

Race 5

MR PIGALLE stayed on when third over 1600m on this course. It must be noted that Sundance Kid has come out and won again since. All five of his career victories have come on this course. The 6yo gelding takes a drop-in class and should be at peak fitness. If not too far out of his ground turning for home, he can return to winning ways.

ALLAROUNDTHEWORLD was given a peach of a ride when winning his last start over 1750m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. The 5-year-old gelding should have no issues with the rise to 1900m and he can follow up.

SAFE SPACE won a good race in his last start over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He has finished second twice from three starts over this C&D. Chase Maujean retains the ride and if this run has not come too soon, he should give a good account of himself.

Race 6

IDEAL GIFT was not disgraced when fifth against male company in her last start over 1750m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. The manner in which she stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. She has won once and finished third twice from four starts over this C&D. The daughter of Ideal World is back against her own sex and with luck in running, she may be the one to beat.

HAVE A PARTY hails from the visiting Paul Matchett stable. Her last two starts at Turffontein have been good. If all went well with her travels, she should throw out a challenge to the top choice.

GLOBAL SECRET ran a good race when second over 1400m, last week Monday. She set the pace that day and fought hard all the way to the line. If this run has not come too soon, she should be hard to peg back.

Race 7

WYLIE RILEY raced from a handy position over 1400m on this course last time and rallied late to finish third. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. Apprentice Kobeli Lihaba takes the 2.5kgs off his back and from pole position, he should be hard to peg back.

FAMOUS AND RICH stayed on strongly when second over this C&D last time. Jabu Jacobs retains the ride and he should throw out a big challenge to the top selection. RODRIGUEZ has decent recent form lines to his credit. He finished 0.05 lengths behind

JOSEPHINE’S PRIDE in his penultimate start. He is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. If jumping on terms, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 8

PORFIRIO produced some good form lines before given a 10-week break. The son of Soft Falling Rain changed stables during his time off the track. He has won three times and finished third once from as many starts over this distance. If not in need of the run and with luck in running, he can win a race of this nature.

SAN MARZANO should have finished closer to the winner last time as he clipped heels after getting squeezed leaving the start. His penultimate run when fourth over this C&D was encouraging. He is in a good space and must be included in all bets.

FISH EAGLE returns from an 11- week break which may have done him the world of good. He has won twice from three starts on this course. The son of Rafeef takes a drop-in class and cannot be ignored
