He is a progressive type and from pole position, he should be the one to beat in this line-up.

HUNTERS ARROW stayed on when second over 1400m on the polytrack last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. If getting away to a clean start, he may be the one to fill the exacta spot.

MAYOR OF MERRIVALE produced a typical second run after a rest last time. He has finished third twice from as many starts over this distance. S’manga Khumalo may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most. S

Race 4

TANNEN PRINCESS has shown good improvement in each of her outings to date. She was her own worst enemy last time as she over raced in the early stages and hung in the straight. The daughter of Querari tries the mile and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she should be the one to beat.

SWEETER THAN HONEY stayed on when second over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. She should strip much fitter and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

ELEGANT ACT has good consistent form lines to her credit but she has been costly to follow. She steps up to the mile and from pole position, she may be rewarded for consistency.

Race 5

COLUMBIA ROAD stayed on at the finish over 2000m on the polytrack last time but found one too good in the form of Summerland. She has won twice and finished third once from five starts on this course. The 5yo mare is having her peak run today and from her good draw of three, she can return to winning ways.

MANIC MONDAY is better than her last start over 2000m on this course. Her form prior to that outing was consistent. She tries the 2200m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she should pose a threat.

THEAPPLEOFMYEYE was running on when third over 1750m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. The daughter of Var will love the rise to 2200m. She does have to contend with the widest draw, but gets the services of Richard Fourie who will give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

Race 6

SKYTRIX is one of the better bets on the programme. She set the pace over 1750m last time and stayed on to finish third. Her penultimate run when fourth over this C&D was encouraging. She is the form horse in this contest and may be hard to peg back.

STING RAY ran a fair race over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. She won a good race in her penultimate run over 1200m. It is encouraging that Richard Fourie is booked to ride and she is one of the leading contenders.

FAIRY TRIPP is better than her last start as she lost three lengths leaving the start, over raced and she was in a wide position around the turn. She finished second in her only attempt over this C&D. The blinkers have been quickly removed and if jumping on terms, she can feature.

Race 7

SUN BLUSHED caught the eye when third over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. He finished 1.6 lengths behind CAPTAIN BOMBSHELL that day. He is 4.5kgs better off at the weights this afternoon which should be enough for the tables to be turned. He is likely to be switched off near the rear of the field and if taking the turn, he can return to winning ways.

HITHEMHARDSUNSHINE was an easy winner of his last start over this distance on the polytrack. He would have come on from the run and if this outing has not come too soon, he can follow up.

PRAY FOR RAIN finished 2 lengths behind CAPTAIN BOMBSHELL last time. He is 3kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.

Race 8

STANLEY PARK took on stronger company in his last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. The manner in which he stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He is having his peak run and Muzi Yeni may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

PHILISPIEL finished 2.3 lengths behind WAR EMPRESS last time. He is 3kgs better off at the weights today which should be enough for the tables to be turned. He is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.

DONTSHOOTTHEBARMAN ran a fair race on the Highveld last time. It must be noted that Var Park has come out and won again since. He finished second in his only C&D attempt and merits healthy respect
