Race 1

VICTORY BELLE ran a decent race when second over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. It must be noted that Iphiko has come out and won again since. Her penultimate run when finishing third over this distance was encouraging. The daughter of Rafeef meets the right field this afternoon and she can shed her maiden tag.

CAPE PRINCESS showed good improvement in her last start over this distance on the turf. She was reported to be coughing and cut into that day. Muzi Yeni takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

DECLARE WAR is the stable companion of the top choice. Her last outing before given a 21-week break was decent. If not in need of the run, she is capable of running into the first three in this line-up.

Race 2

GLADATORIAN was not disgraced when finishing fifth in the Grade 1 Gold Medallion last time. The manner in which he stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. It must be noted that Thunderstruck has come out and won again since. He returns from a 15-week break, during which time he was gelded. The son of Vercingetorix has ability and if fit, he should be too good for this field.

SUN BLUSHED followed up his maiden victory with a good second-place finish in the Grade 2 Umkhomazi Stakes. The manner in which he finished off his race that day suggests that he will love the extra furlong on offer. If suited to the Polytrack, he should go close to winning.

JOHNDUNBAR won a good race when shedding his maiden tag over 1200m on this course. He returns from a 10-week break, during which time he was gelded. He carries a handy galloping mass of 54kgs and can run into the placings.

Race 3

JOHNNY’S HOPE had to overcome a wide draw of twelve over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time and he wasn’t disgraced in third. The son of Canford Cliffs will love the rise to the mile and if suited to the Polytrack, he should shed his maiden tag.

RAVENS SWORD has decent recent form lines to his credit. He set the pace over 1700m last time, but found one too good in the form of Without Question. He finished second in his only attempt over this C&D and merits healthy respect.

DOUBLE SILVER showed some good improvement in his last start over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. The son of Twice Over is bred to enjoy the rise to 1600m. He has plenty of scope and from his good draw of three, he should be competitive.

Race 4

GENTLEMAN’S WAY was touched off over 1400m on this course last time. He raced from a handy position, challenged strongly but found one too good in the form of Clean Slate. Four of his five career victories have come on this course. Muzi Yeni retains the ride and he can go one better.

CAESURA has fair recent form lines to his credit. It must be noted that the form of his last outing has been franked. He has won twice and finished second once from five starts over this C&D. His last victory came under 4kgs claiming apprentice Siphesihle Hlengwa and the pair merit healthy respect.

PEDRO ran a fair race in his last start over 1400m on the turf. He won a good race in his penultimate run over this C&D. If jumping on terms, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 5

MY CHERIE AMOUR was not beaten far in her last start over this C&D against stronger. She returns from an 11-week break which would have done her the world of good. The daughter of Canford Cliffs runs well fresh and she may be the one to side with.

IRON CHEF lost a length at the start over 1400m last time, but stayed on nicely at the finish. The blinkers have been removed and if jumping on terms, she can notch up her fourth career victory.

COZY DOT COM finished 0.2 lengths behind ROY’S ROCKER last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line. She is drawn widest of all, but is likely to use her early gate speed to get across without using up too much energy.

Race 6

MISS MAGICIAN stayed on when third over 1000m on the turf last time. The daughter of Willow Magic runs well on this course and she takes a drop in class. Calvin Habib steps back into the saddle and she can return to winning ways.

ALTO ALEX followed up her maiden win with a good third-place finish over 1400m on this course. She raced from a handy position and stayed on at the finish. The daughter of Global View makes her Handicap debut, but she has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand.

NEW ORLEANS was squeezed leaving the starting stalls last time, but stayed on nicely at the finish. She finished 0.4 lengths behind the top choice that day. She is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights and may battle to turn the tables.

Race 7

BOWIE ran a decent race in his first run for the Gareth van Zyl stable. He jumped inwards leaving the starting stalls, but stayed on nicely at the finish. He steps up to the 1400m and with Keagan de Melo in the saddle, he can notch up his fifth career victory.

PROUD MASTER found plenty of betting support when winning his last start over 1200m on this course. He finished third in his only start over this C&D. He returns from a well-deserved 11-week break and if not in need of the run, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

CONQUER THE ENEMY may not have seen out the 1800m in his last start. The 11-week break would have done him the world of good. From his good draw of four, he should give a good account of himself.

Race 8

DIAMOND GIRL lost a length at the start over this distance on the turf last time, but finished her race off strongly. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. The blinkers seem to have done the trick and from her good draw of three, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

TWICE THE TRIP fought hard for her last victory over this distance. She finished 3.5 lengths behind the top choice in her penultimate run. She is 2.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around.

CORNER CRUSADE finished 1.4 lengths behind STAR CHOICE last time. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned
