Race 1

BABELICIOUS ran a good race when third in her last start over 1200m. She raced from just off the pace, moved up but was outrun late by Miss World. The daughter of Var is a progressive type and should love the rise to 1400m. She does have a wide draw to overcome, but gets the services of Aldo Domeyer who will give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

DIXIELAND BAND’S last two starts have been fair. The manner in which she finishes off her races suggests that she will enjoy the rise to 1400m. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

CORAL BLAZE showed good improvement in her last start over 1200m at Fairview. She finished 2.3 lengths behind the top choice in her penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.

Race 2

TEQUILA SKY has finished second in her last three starts. She raced from a prominent position last time, tried hard but found one too good in the form of Love Shack. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She is likely to race on the speed and may be rewarded for consistency.

PINK MOON was in need of her comeback run against male company last time. She would have come on from the outing and should strip much fitter. The daughter of Sea The Moon should be involved at the finish.

GIMMETHELIMELIGHT returns from a 16-week break which would have done her the world of good. She should have no issues with the drop to 1100m and if not in need of this outing, she may find a form return.

Race 3

ETOILEFILLANTE’S last two starts under Bernard Fayd’Herbe have been good. He raced from a handy position last time, but was outrun late by Continentalexpress. The blinkers have done the trick on the son of Duke Of Marmalade. He meets the right field this afternoon and can go one better.

AMANCIO was unlucky not to have won his last start as he was steadied for running room at the 200m mark. The son of Silvano is a progressive type and will love the rise to the mile. From his good draw of three, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

DAIMYO has finished second in his last two starts over this C&D. He raced from a handy position last time, but found one too good in the form of Voorloopertjie who has come out and won again since. From pole position, he merits healthy respect.

Race 4

RED RACKHAM showed good improvement in his last start with the tongue-tie and ear muffs fitted. He raced from a handy position but was outrun late. The son of William Longsword carries a light mass of 50.5kgs thanks to the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Brevan Plaatjies. With a bit of luck from his awkward draw of eight, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

KWITE A KING has finished third in his last three starts over this C&D. He is likely to be switched off near the rear of the field and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

LOCKHEEDLIGHTNING ran a decent race when fourth over this C&D last time. It must be noted that Lightning Glow has come out and won again since. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

Race 5

VERONIQUE finished 0.5 lengths behind GRANDIOSA last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She has breathing issues but is in a good space and may be the one to side with.

YOUREYESONLY finished 2.85 lengths behind GRANDIOSA in the race referred to above. She is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough to turn the form around. Ashton Arries is likely to use her early gate speed to get across without using up too much energy and she may be hard to peg back.

GRANDIOSA fought hard for her last victory over this C&D. She received a three-pound penalty for that victory. The daughter of Silvano meets a similar line-up this afternoon and she can follow up.

Race 6

COASTAL COMMANDER is the best bet on the programme. He was not disgraced when fourth in the Grade 1 SplashOut Cape Derby last time. He finished second in his only attempt over this C&D. The son of Lancaster Bomber is the best-weighted runner in this contest and if all goes according to plan, he should be the one to beat.

PORT LOUIS should have won his last start as he was held up for a run between the 400m mark and 250m mark. With a bit of luck in running, he may be the one to fill the exacta spot.

ZIL MORIS has good recent form lines to his credit. He has won once, finished second twice and third once from as many starts over this C&D. He is in a good space and merits obvious inclusion.

Race 7

MISS MARGUERITE finished 0.05 lengths behind KINKY BOOTS last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. It is encouraging that Aldo Domeyer keeps faith in the ride and she can return to winning ways.

KINKY BOOTS produced a good third- place finish in her last start over 1200m. She should have no issues with the drop to 1100m. She is having her peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. The daughter of Master Of My Fate must be included in all bets.

DISTINCTION finished 0.35 lengths behind the second choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.

Race 8

WORDSWORTH has finished third in his last three starts. He should have finished closer to the winner last time as he was cramped for galloping room in the closing stages. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

WYLIE JACK finished 1.25 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.

WHY NOT JACKIE was an easy winner of her last start over 1200m on this course. She received a five-pound penalty for that victory. She is in a good space and should give the males a run for their money once again
