CHICHICASTENANGO raced from a handy position over 1800m on the polytrack last time, but found one too good in the form of Wonderful. She is the stable elect with Athandiwe Mgudlwa in the saddle. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
TANNEN PRINCESS showed good improvement in her last start over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Greyville. The manner in which she stayed on at the finish that day suggests that she will love the rise to 1500m. The daughter of Querari is a progressive type and may have more to come.
Race 2
KENNEDY won a good race in her local debut over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. The 10-week break would have done her the world of good. If not in need of this outing, she can follow up.
AISLING finished 2.35 lengths behind WAR EMPRESS last time. She is 7.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She will strip much fitter and is one of the leading contenders.
WAR EMPRESS fought hard in her last start against male company, but found one too good in the form of Bless Me Fred. She is in a good space and back against her own sex, she should be competitive.
Race 3
FORESHORE was not disgraced in the Grade 3 Flamboyant Stakes, despite not acting in the soft going. She has won twice and finished third once from as many starts on this course. The daughter of Wylie Hall takes a drop-in class and despite her big mass of 61.5kgs, she should take a power of beating.
PETIT VERDOT raced from a handy position over this distance on the Polytrack last time, but found one too good in the form of Princess Arlowe. She has won once, finished second three times and third once from as many starts over this distance. The daughter of What A Winter merits healthy respect.
MINOGUE is better than her last start in the Grade 3 Flamboyant Stakes. She won a good race in her penultimate start over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Greyville. The daughter of Vercingetorix has a good turn of foot and on best form shown, she should fight out the finish.
Race 4
THE SHEPHERD followed up his maiden win with an equally impressive victory over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville. He raced from a handy position and fought hard all the way to the line. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He is a horse with plenty of scope and can notch up the hat-trick.
PRAGMATIST stayed on well when third over this distance on the Polytrack last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. From his good draw of four, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.
EL DANTE has finished second in his last three starts. He has won twice and finished second twice from as many starts over this distance. Deryl Daniels is likely to use his early gate speed to overcome the wide draw and he may be hard to peg back.
Race 5
POLITICAL PARTY finished 0.6 lengths behind PONGOLA last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field from his wide draw and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
ALLAROUNDTHEWORLD set a fast pace over 1800m at Hollywoodbets Greyville before getting caught late. He finished 1.1 lengths behind PONGOLA that day and is 2kgs better off at the weights. The blinkers have been removed and if switching off early, he should be hard to peg back.
PONGOLA should have won last time as he hung in the closing stages. He jumps from a good draw of three and if keeping on a straight line, he can notch up his third-career victory.
Race 6
CAPTAIN’S CHRISTY should have finished closer to the winner last time as she received a bump leaving the start. The manner in which she stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. She has won twice and finished third three times from seven starts on this course. She is having her peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. On best form shown, she should be the one to beat.
BOMBER GIRL is better than her last two starts on the Highveld. She has won once and finished second twice from as many starts over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
ORIENTAL BOUQUET is better than her last three starts. She won on debut over this C&D. Her best form has been under Craig Zackey and the daughter of Danon Platina can improve to finish in the money.
Race 7
JOSHUA HOTSNAKE finished 3.6 lengths behind LAKE COMO last time. He is 3kgs better off at the weights today. He has won three times, finished second once and third twice from nine starts over this distance. He finished second in his only C&D attempt. With a bit of luck from his awkward draw of nine, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
LAKE COMO was given a peach of a ride when winning his last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville. He meets a similar line-up this afternoon and merits healthy respect.
GALAXY EXPLORER followed up his maiden win with a fair effort over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Greyville. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. Richard Fourie steps back into the saddle and he will be staying on at the finish.
Race 8
RAFEEF’S CHOICE showed good improvement in her last start over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Greyville. The manner in which she stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. She has won once and finished second once from three starts over this distance. The daughter of Rafeef should strip much fitter and she can go one better.
FORT J’ADORE finished 2.15 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.
