TOP BET

Race 2: COUNTESS VAR (1)
Jockey: D LERENA - Trainer: F HABIB

The speedy COUNTESS VAR clearly has her quirks but she had found some form before seemingly not enjoying being equipped with blinkers last time out. That recent formline has produced a few winners though and the chestnut daughter of Var can bounce right back. She had one fair effort on this track.

Race 4: STORMEBOURNE THUNDER (1)
Jockey: L HEWITSON - Trainer: M & A AZZIE

The blinkers could make a positive impact on the improving imported daughter of Stratum, STORMBORNE THUNDER who went down narrowly over a mile and a half recently. Admittedly, her young jockey was outsmarted and outmuscled that day but this drop in distance should suit the Azzie inmate who can go one better

Race 6: CONCEALED SECRET (6)
Jockey: L HEWITSON - Trainer: S TARRY

CONCEALED SECRET showed his worth with a cracking last run behind subsequent winner and high class individual Buffalo Bill Cody over this c & d last time but the injury plagued colt returns from yet another absence. That said, he still appears well-handicapped in this field and should give another smart account of himself.

Race 7: DAME KELLY (4)
Jockey: L FERRARIS - Trainer: O FERRARIS

The three-year-old filly DAME KELLY caught the eye when she stayed on well for 3rd behind two useful male rivals over this trip earlier this month. She was docked a further two pounds in her merit rating and is of course taking on her own sex on favourable weight terms today.

VALUE BET

Race 9: NOTTINGHAM FOREST (10)
Jockey: M MJOKA - Trainer: G/K ANTHONY

The veteran gelding NOTTINGHAM FOREST is best over today's distance and he can bounce back from his below-par recent effort over the mile. Of course he stayed on well for 4th behind NORLAND (4.5kgs worse off) over a similar distance in his comeback run late last month and should be cherry-ripe today. The seven-year old chestnut is drawn best of all and he is the yard's only runner on the day.
