Race 1

This is a weak Maiden Plate for the girls and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is SMASHING from the Clinton Binda stable. She is better than her last start as the saddle was reported to have slipped in running. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. Her first two career outings were encouraging. She tries the 1160m and in this field, she can shed her maiden tag.

BLUP BLUP finished 3 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is having her peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. If finding her earlier form she should be involved at the finish.

MAGICAL STONES showed some improvement in her last start over 1000m on the Turffontein Inside course. The blinkers seem to have done the trick and there may be more to come from her.

Race 2

PRECIPEACE has produced two fair runs to date. He found betting support in both those efforts which suggests that he was showing good work at home. The son of Canford Cliffs returns from a 12-week break, during which time he was gelded. He has scope and if not in need of this outing, he may be the one to beat.

SO SEDUCTIVE is a filly taking on the males. She has fair form lines to her name. She returns from a 37-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. If fit, she should give the males a run for their money.

BOB should have finished closer to the winner last time as he had to be switched for running room at the 200m mark. The son of William Longsword has found form and with luck in running, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 3

SIBERIAN STEEL has good consistent form lines to his credit. He moved up like a winner over this C&D last time, but found one too good in the form of Silver Tudor. He has won once and finished second twice from five starts on this course. The son of What A Winter can return to winning ways.

DREAMLAND finished 1.65 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today which is not enough to turn the form around, but he should finish closer.

ARTICUNO won a good race when shedding her maiden tag over 1000m on the Inside course last time. She does take on stronger, but has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand.

Race 4

ZEUS was an easy winner of his last start over this C&D. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He has won twice and finished third once from four starts over this C&D. He is the class horse in the race and should take a power of beating.

GOOD COUNCIL finished 3.25 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.

EAST COAST showed signs of needing his last start over 1600m. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He is having his second run as a gelding and can show improvement.

Race 5

LADY FALLON stayed on when fourth in the Grade 3 Mother Russia Stakes last time. She was super impressive when winning her penultimate start over this distance. The daughter of Act Of War has class about her and she should be the one to beat.

IPSO FACTO set the pace over 1400m on this course last time and tried hard all the way to the line. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

CAPE LIGHTS stayed on when third over this C&D last time. She has won twice, finished second three times and third twice from eight starts over this distance. The daughter of Ideal World will be mowing down the frontrunners.

Race 6

GIMME A NOTHER is unbeaten from four starts to date. She was super impressive when winning the Grade 2 Mike de Kock Ipi Tombe Challenge last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She is drawn widest of all, but JP van der Merwe knows her well and he should give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight has class, should have no stamina issues and can win the Wilgerbosdrift Triple Tiara.

SILVER SANCTUARY took the lead at the 50m mark in the Grade 1 WSB Cape Fillies Guineas last time, but was caught late by Beach Bomb who has won another Grade 1 since. JP van der Merwe has opted to ride the top choice but she merits healthy respect.

LET’S GO NOW produced a strong finish when winning her last start over 1400m on this course. She is ideally suited to this distance and can finish in the placings.

Race 7

SANDRINGHAM SUMMIT was left with a lot of work to do in the straight when third in the Grade 2 Jonsson Workwear Dingaans last time. He returns from a 10-week break which may have done him the world of good. The son of Gimmethegreenlight has a good turn of foot and on his best form, he should take a power of beating.

PURPLE PITCHER is a winner of his last five starts. He returns from a well-deserved 10-week break. The son of New Predator has been aimed at this race and he should be hard to peg back.

GIMMEANOTHERCHANCE is better than his last start in the Grade 3 Betway Got The Greenlight Stakes. If finding the form of his effort in the Grade 2 Jonsson Workwear Dingaans, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 8

UNZEN’S last three starts have been good. He set the pace over 1600m last time, but was caught late by Silver Hills. He won a good race in the Non-Black Type WSB Grand Heritage in his penultimate run. He does meet a competitive field, but a few of these horses may be in need of the run and this will bring them on for future races. The son of Erupt comes into this race fit and with just 52kgs on his back, he may be the one to side with.

COUSIN CASEY did not settle in the early stages of the Grade 1 Betway Summer Cup last time. He has won three times and finished second once from as many starts over this distance. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and the son of Vercingetorix merits healthy respect.

SAFE PASSAGE ran a good race when second in the Grade 1 Betway Summer Cup. The 1400m may be on the sharp side but he will be doing his best work at the finish.

Race 9

COURAGEOUS followed up her maiden win with a decent fourth-place finish over 1450m on the Vaal Classic course. The manner in which she finished off her race that day suggests that she will enjoy the rise to the mile. From her good draw of two, she should be involved at the finish.

FRANCES ETHEL set the pace over this distance on the Vaal Classic course last time and found extra where it matters most. The daughter of Rafeef takes a rise in class, but she has scope and should be up to the task at hand.

OCTOBER FAIR ran a fair in her last start over 1400m on this course. The 12-week break may have done her the world of good. She takes a drop-in class and can show improvement
