Race 1

SILVER TUDOR ran a decent race when fourth in his comeback run over this C&D. Despite receiving a bump leaving the start, the manner in which he stayed on at the finish was encouraging. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. He meets the right field and can shed his maiden tag.

I’M A MAN was in need of his local debut over 1400m on the Standside course and was reported to be not striding out. He will strip a much fitter horse and with capable workrider Samuel Mosia in the saddle, he is one of the leading contenders.

TIME TO THE MOON showed good improvement in her last start over 1200m on this course. She was slow into stride, but the manner in which she finished off her race was encouraging. She will enjoy the rise to 1450m and may give the males a run for their money

Race 2

MARY‘S GREENLIGHT produced a promising debut effort over 1000m on the Vaal Classic course. The manner in which she finished off her race that day was encouraging. She would have come on from the run and will love the rise to 1200m. With the natural improvement that is expected, she should take a power of beating.

MISS SHAIVI was running on when third over 1450m on this course last time. It is interesting that she drops to the 1200m, but has shown ability and merits healthy respect.

NAKA ISLAND is an unraced daughter of New Predator from the Lucky Houdalakis yard with Keagan de Melo in the saddle. She is related to four-time winner Raratonga Rose. If not too green, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her and the other unraced entrants.

Race 3

ZINOVI was not disgraced when fourth in the Listed Storm Bird Stakes last time. He should have finished closer to the winner that day as he hung in the closing stages. It must be noted that the horse that finished second has come out and won since. He tries the 1200m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he can shed his maiden tag.

LINKIN NAVIGATOR has produced two good outings to date. He stayed on at the finish last time, but found one too good in the form of Mist In Scotland. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

DREAMLAND is an unraced son of Lancaster Bomber from the Lucky Houdalakis stable with Keagan de Melo in the irons. If not too green, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to him and the other first timers.

Race 4

PLATINA PRINCESS is one of the better bets on today’s card. She produced a promising debut when second over 1200m on this course. She was slow into stride, but the manner in which she finished off her race was encouraging. She would have come on from the run and will enjoy the extra 250m on offer. She jumps from pole position and with the natural progression, she should go one better.

SPIRIT PRINCESS was a tad disappointing in her last start over 1600m on the Standside course. Her penultimate run when second over this distance was encouraging. Piere Strydom is booked to ride and she is a big threat.

POWERS THAT BE stayed on when third over 1400m on the Standside course last time. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. She finished third in her only attempt over this distance and cannot be ignored.

Race 5

SISTER LIGHT was not disgraced when fourth in the Listed Jacaranda Handicap last time. The manner in which she stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. She has won twice from four starts on this course. Keagan de Melo does duty and the combination will be mowing down the frontrunners.

BLACK SILVER was not beaten far in her last start over 1400m on the Standside course. She would have come on from the run and if jumping on terms, she should be one of the leading contenders.

TULIP TREE was settled at the rear of the field in her last two starts and finished off her races strongly. She received a five-pound penalty for her last victory and can notch up the hat-trick

Race 6

KWAZZI‘S LADY ran on well when winning her last start over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. She received a four-pound penalty for that victory. 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Donald Geerthsen retains the ride and she can follow up.

ELEMBEE followed up her maiden victory with a good third-place finish over 1800m on the Vaal Classic course. She returns from an 11-week break and has plenty of scope. She does have a wide draw of 13 to contend with, but gets the services of S’manga Khumalo who will give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

MEMORIAL DAY challenged strongly in her last start, but found one too good in the form of Midnight Crystal. Her best form has been under Gavin Lerena and the pair merit healthy respect.

Race 7

CALL ME MASTER showed good signs of a form return in his last start over this C&D. The manner in which he finished off his race that day was encouraging. The 6yo gelding takes a drop-in class and if not too far out of his ground turning for home, he should notch up his fifth career victory.

GO FLICHITY was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start over 2600m on this course. The pacifiers remain fitted and she gets a pair of scoops as she drops in distance. Her best form has been under Keagan de Melo and she should give the males a run for their money.

ROMEO‘S MAGIC showed some signs of a form return in his last start over 1600m on this course. He was slow into stride, but ran on from last. Gavin Lerena retains the ride and the pair merit healthy respect.

Race 8

NETTLETON won a good race on debut over 1000m on the Standside course. She showed good speed, found another kick and drew off in the closing stages. The daughter of What A Winter takes on stronger, but she could be anything and may be up to the task at hand.

LOLLAPALOOZA challenged strongly in her last start, but found one too good in the form of Time Is Ticking. She is in a good space and with a bit of luck in running, she should throw out a big challenge to the top choice

PERMESSO AVANTI stayed on when third over 1160m on the Standside course last time. She will be mowing down the frontrunners
