Race 1

VICTOR RAIL showed good improvement in his last start over this C&D. He raced from a handy position that day, but found one too good in the form of Fish Eagle. If this run has not come too soon, he should go one better.

INSIGHTFUL hails from the visiting Clinton Binda stable. He ran a decent race when fourth over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time. He should be cherry-ripe and is one of the leading contenders.

GIOCATORE’S last three starts have been fair. He has finished second on this course in the past. He is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.

Race 2

JADE’S CABERNEIGH was a tad disappointing in her last start over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. Her debut effort against male company over this distance was encouraging. She will enjoy the drop back to the minimum trip and has plenty of scope. Keagan de Melo takes the ride and with a bit of luck, she can improve to win.

STORM JEWEL hails from the visiting Brett Webber stable. She has shown improvement in her last two starts. How she finished off both those races was encouraging. She jumps from a good draw of three and must be included in all bets.

SEA OF TEARS showed good pace in her last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville, but found one too good in the form of Isn’t She Bonny. She is suited to this course and should earn another cheque for her patrons.

Race 3

PATON’S TEARS has some decent recent form lines to her credit. She was slow into stride over this distance at Turffontein last time, but how she finished off her race was encouraging. The daughter of Coup De Grace takes a drop in class and if suited to the Polytrack, she can return to winning ways.

WINTER’S DESTINY is better than her last start as she was reported to be not striding out. She has won twice and finished second four times from seven starts over this C&D. On best form shown, she should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

AISLING set the pace over 1200m last time, but was caught late. She is likely to have her own way in front over this distance and may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.

Race 4

TASTE MAKER has finished third in her last three starts over this distance. It must be noted that the horse that finished second in her last outing has come out and won since. She has cracked pole position and may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

STEALTH ATTACK had excuses in her last start over 1200m on the turf. She has finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. If jumping on terms, she should go close to winning.

I’VE GOT WINGS‘ last two starts have been good. She should have finished closer to the winner last time as her pilot dropped his crop in the closing stages. Chase Maujean retains the ride and he will be looking to make amends.

Race 5

WILLIAM RUFUS raced from a handy position over this C&D last time and stayed on to finish 1.1 lengths behind PARMENION. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line. He jumps from a good draw of three and can notch up his third career victory.

PARMENION won a good race in his last start over this C&D. He raced from a handy position, quickened up well and won going away. He is likely to use his early gate speed to get across without using up too much energy.

SON OF SILK is a winner of his last two starts over this C&D. He received a three-pound penalty for his last victory. The 5yo gelding is in a good space and can notch up the hat- trick.

Race 6

PURPLE OPERATOR stayed on when fifth over 1000m on the turf last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He has won twice and finished second twice from five starts over this C&D. The son of Captain Of All jumps from pole position and is the horse to beat.

HOPE IS POWER ran a good race when second over this distance on the turf last time. It must be noted that Beechamwood Boy has come out and won again since. He takes a drop-in class and will be cherry-ripe. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

JOSHUA HOTSNAKE returns from a 10-week break which would have done him the world of good. His form prior to his last outing was good. S’manga Khumalo takes the ride on his return and he should have a say.

Race 7

CHEROKEE TRAIL was not disgraced when third against stronger company over 1600m on the turf last time. He raced from a handy position that day and stayed on nicely at the finish. The son of Pathfork won his only attempt over this C&D. He takes a drop in class and with a bit of luck, should be the horse to beat.

HIGH MOON returns from a 17-week break which would have done him the world of good. He has finished second once and third twice from as many starts on this course. If Chase Maujean is able to switch him off early, he should pose a threat.

KHANYISA INDLELA is better than his last start over 1600m on the turf. He returns from a 13-week break which would have done him the world of good. He won his only attempt over this C&D. Keagan de Melo retains the ride and he can feature.

Race 8

PETIT VERDOT was her own worst enemy over 1200m on this course last time as she over raced in the early stages. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The daughter of What A Winter tries the mile and if Serino Moodley is able to switch her off early, she may be the one to beat in weaker company.

FASINADA fought hard in her last start over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. She is back against her own sex and if suited to the Polytrack, she should pose a threat.

KILEIGH’S FATE should have finished closer to the winner in her last outing. She is having her peak run and will be cherry-ripe. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest
