The first of Friday's 2022 Fifa World Cup quarter finals sees Croatia clash with Brazil and the Brazilian's come into the game as clear favourites in the outright betting to win the tournament.

Croatia

Croatia booked their quarter final place with a penalty shoot out win over Japan after a 1-1 draw. They conceded just before half time but Perisic squared things up on 55 minutes and the game failed to produce another goal before Croatian keeper Dominik Livakovic saved 3 Japan spot kicks.

Croatia came through Group F as runners up to Morocco with Belgium the headline departure in third and Canada never got in a blow.

Croatia, runners up in 2018 , played out 0-0 draws with Belgium and Morocco either side of a 4-1 win over Canada where a brace from Kramaric and goals from Livaja and Majer helped them through.

The winner of this game faces Argentina or the Netherlands in the semi finals and in the outright betting to win the tournament Croatia are trading at around 33/1

Brazil

Brazil dismantled South Korea 4-1 in the Round of 16. They put the game to bed in the first half with goals from Vinicius Jr, a Neymar penalty, Richarlison and Lucas Paqueta and the Korean's found a consolation in the later stages of the second half.

Brazil topped Group G with 6 points ahead of Switzerland on goal difference. Cameroon were third with 4 points and Serbia fourth with 1.

After winning their first 2 matches Brazil assured themselves of their place in the last 16 at the earliest opportunity. Richarlison scored both of their goals in a 2-0 win over Serbia first time out and a late goal from Casemiro secured a 1-0 win over Switzerland. After opting to make 10 changes to their line up for their final match against Cameroon Brazil fluffed their lines and went down (1-0) to an injury time goal.

In the outright betting to win the tournament Brazil are trading at around 1.75/1 (favourites)

The Betting:

Croatia are 7.58/1 to win in regulation time with the draw at 3.93/1 and Brazil can be backed at 0.37/1

A game of 3 goals or more (90 minutes) is prices at 8/10 and it's 12/10 for both teams to score.

To qualify for the semi final via any method the Croatia are 3.77/1 and Brazil are 0.15/1

The Verdict:

Brazil are ticking all the boxes when it matters most and Croatia are reproducing their performance from the 2018 finals but it looks hard to call a surprise on what we have seen so far.

Many of the last 16 matches were surprisingly high scoring and often one sided but I fancy the staying power of the Croat's can keep this a bit tighter than the odds suggest.

I will go with Brazil to score 1-2 goals in the normal time multi goals market.
