Race 1

ROCKANROLLIN is a well-bred son of Wootton Bassett who produced an encouraging debut over this C&D. He lost a length leaving the start, took time to find his feet but stayed on nicely at the finish. He would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he may be the one to beat. 

BLACK EAGLE showed good improvement when third over this C&D last time. He stayed on at the finish that day. The son of Rafeef is a progressive type and may have more to come. 

DAY IN DAY OUT was doing his best work late when fourth over 1000m on this course last time. Gavin Lerena retains the ride, and he is a solid back-up for the Vaughan Marshall stable. 

Race 2

WISH LIST is the best bet on the programme. She produced an eye-catching debut effort over this C&D. She understandably raced green but the manner in which she finished off her race was encouraging. The daughter of Legislate would have come on from the outing and with Richard Fourie in the saddle, she should take a power of beating. 

QUEEN REGENT showed good improvement when third over this C&D last time. She stayed on at the finish that day. JP van der Merwe steps back into the saddle and she is a solid back-up for the Justin Snaith stable. 

PRECOCIOUS showed signs of needing her comeback run over 1400m. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She will strip much fitter and if finding the form of her debut run, she should be competitive. 

Race 3

MEU CAPITANO ran a good race when third over 1400m last time. He returns from a well-deserved 16-week break. He finished second in his only attempt over this C&D. Aldo Domeyer rides on his return and if not in need of the run, he should be too good for this field. 

DUMBLEDORE was unlucky last time as he was held up for a run between the 400m mark and 100m mark. With a bit of luck in running, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice. 

DEAN STREET showed good speed when winning his last start over 1000m on this course. He finished 2.55 lengths behind the second choice in his penultimate run. He is 1kg worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result. 

Race 4

RARE EARTH ran a fair race when fifth over 1500m on this course last time. She over raced that day, but stayed on at the finish. The daughter of Danon Platina is having her peak run and should be cherry-ripe. If switching off early over the extra 200m, she can win a race of this nature. 

RED STATE has fair recent form lines to her name. The manner in which she finishes off her races suggests that she will love the rise to 1700m. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride, and she may be the horse to fill the exacta spot. 

NOT WANTED showed some improvement when fifth over 1950m on this course last time. It must be noted that Ariovistus has come out and won again since. He will strip a much fitter horse and may be the first male past the post.

 

 

Race 5

IN A TIMELY MANNER ran on powerfully when winning on debut over 1200m. The well-related son of Legislate would have gained from the experience and should love the rise to 1400m. He could be anything and with a bit of luck from his wide draw, he can remain unbeaten. 

FOLLOW YOUR HEART fought hard for his last victory over 1200m. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The son of Master Of My Fate takes on stronger, but he is a progressive type and should be up to the task at hand. 

MELA STRENGTH stayed on at the finish over 1600m last time. He finished 0.05 lengths behind FIRINGONALLENGINES in his penultimate run. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. 

Race 6

GARDEN OF EDEN produced an encouraging comeback run when sixth over this C&D. She set the pace that day, but tired late. The daughter of Duke Of Marmalade would have come on from the outing and she will strip much fitter. Sean Veale rides from a good draw of four and the combination may be hard to peg back. 

RAHHABBA raced from a handy position over this C&D last time but found one too good in the form of Swiatek. She does have a wide draw to overcome, but Grant van Niekerk retains the ride and he should give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle. 

CHAMPAGNE KISSES drew off well when winning her last start over 1200m. She received a six-pound penalty for that victory. She is in a good space and must be included in all bets. 

Race 7

LOVERS LANE challenged strongly over 1200m last time but was touched off by Firingonallengines. He is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. He meets the right field and may be rewarded for consistency. 

GRAVITY finished 2.8 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 1.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the tables. 

TAMBOURINE MAN was disappointing in his last start over 1200m on this course. He returns from a 12-week break which may have done him the world of good. It is encouraging that Craig Zackey steps back into the saddle and on his previous two victories, he should be competitive. 

Race 8

THE CHARLESTON finished 1.75 lengths behind PEACE OF MIND last time. She is 3kgs better off at the weights today which is enough for the tables to be turned. She would have come on from the outing and will strip much fitter. Apprentice Brevan Plaatjies takes the 1.5kgs off her back and she may be the horse to side with. 

PEACE OF MIND was touched off by Pink Pigeon over 1000m on this course last time. She has won once, finished second once and third once from five starts over this C&D. She is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to catch. 

INSIDE VOICE won a good race over this C&D last time. She showed good speed and found extra where it matters most. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She takes on stronger, but carries a handy galloping mass of 53.5kgs and should be up to the task at hand
