csk2019Rajasthan Royals host Chennai Super Kings in Match 25 of the IPL on Thursday and CSK are looking for a sixth win in seven outings.

Rajasthan Royals

The Royals have just 1 win and 4 defeats to show for their efforts so far and if they are to threaten the play offs they need to turn things around sooner rather than later. Their most recent action came at home to the Knight Riders on Sunday and despite losing only 3 wickets they posted a vulnerable looking total of 139 (Steve Smith 73 not out) which was matched and bettered in just 13.5 overs.

Their only win so far came at the fourth time of asking, a 7 wicket home victory over the Royal Challengers. The Royals overhauled RCB’s bat first total of 158/4 with just 1 ball to spare in that game with Jos Buttler’s 59 the top score.

Chennai Super Kings

The Super Kings hosted the Knight Riders in Chennai in a top of the table clash on Tuesday and they had few problems in completing a 7 wicket victory. CSK restricted KKR to 108/9 as 4 of 5 bowlers used went for no more than 5.25 per over and Chahar fared best with figures of 3/20. Faf du Plessis has certainly come to the party since being handed a starting berth. He top scored with 54 in CSK’s recent home win over KXP and on Tuesday he finished unbeaten with 43 as CSK toppled KKR with 2.4 overs to spare.

CSK now have a record of 5 wins and the 1 defeat which came away to Mumbai. Their only other away fixture delivered a 6 wicket win over the Capitals in Delhi in Match 6.

Head to Head

Matches 21, Super Kings wins 13, Royals wins 8

The teams met in Match 12 this season in Chennai and the Super Kings won a tight contest by 8 runs. CSK posted 175/5 batting first with MS Dhoni finishing unbeaten on 75. It looked like game over with the Royals losing their first 3 wickets with just 13 runs on the board but Ben Stokes and Josh Archer threatened to take them home before Stokes (46) was out off the first ball of the final over and the Royals hopes of victory went with him.

Betting Angle

The Super Kings spinners have been a key factor in their home games and if conditions suit them in this away fixture they will be tough to beat. However the match result is passed over with preference for the “Highest Individual Score” market where 69 runs or for any batsmen could be a tall order.
